【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=대구광역시는 대구치맥페스티벌이 문화체육관광부가 주관하는 ‘2026~2027 문화관광축제’에 선정됐다고 밝혔다.
이번 선정으로 대구치맥페스티벌은 ‘2020~2023’, ‘2024~2025’에 이어 세 번째로 문화관광축제에 이름을 올리며 대한민국을 대표하는 여름 축제로서의 위상을 다시 한번 입증했다.
문화관광축제로 선정됨에 따라 대구치맥페스티벌은 향후 2년간 국비 8천만 원을 지원받게 되며, 국내외 홍보 마케팅 강화, 관광상품 개발, 축제 콘텐츠 경쟁력 제고 등 다양한 지원을 받게 된다.
‘2026~2027 문화관광축제’는 2024~2025년 문화관광축제 및 예비축제를 대상으로 전문가 평가와 소비자 만족도 조사, 지역주민 의견 수렴 결과는 물론 바가지요금 등 부정적 사례 발생 여부와 축제 운영·수용 태세 등을 종합적으로 심사해 문화체육관광부가 전국 25개 축제를 선정했다.
대구시는 이번 선정을 계기로 문화체육관광부가 추진하는 ‘2026~2028 글로벌 축제’ 공모사업에도 참여해 대구치맥페스티벌을 세계인이 찾는 글로벌 K-푸드 축제로 한 단계 더 도약시킨다는 계획이다.
대구치맥페스티벌은 대구의 무더운 여름과 잘 어울리는 맥주, 지역의 탄탄한 닭고기 산업 인프라를 바탕으로 2013년 처음 개최된 이후, 세계적으로 주목받는 K-푸드인 ‘치킨’을 주제로 매년 국내외 관광객을 끌어들이며 지역경제 활성화에 기여해 온 대구 대표 축제로 자리 잡았다.
박기환 대구광역시 경제국장은 “대구 유일의 문화관광축제인 대구치맥페스티벌이 이번 선정을 계기로 브랜드 가치를 한층 더 높일 것으로 기대한다”며 “앞으로도 더욱 다양하고 완성도 높은 프로그램을 통해 국내외 관광객에게 차별화된 축제 경험을 제공하겠다”고 밝혔다.

With this designation, the Daegu Chicken and Beer Festival will receive KRW 80 million in government funding over the next two years. This will include strengthening domestic and international promotional marketing, developing tourism products, and enhancing the competitiveness of festival content.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism selected 25 festivals nationwide for the "2026-2027 Cultural Tourism Festival." The festivals were selected based on a comprehensive review of the 2024-2025 cultural tourism festivals and preliminary festivals. The evaluation included expert evaluations, consumer satisfaction surveys, and local resident feedback. Furthermore, the festival's operational and customer-facing capabilities were also considered.
Daegu City plans to capitalize on this selection by participating in the "2026-2028 Global Festival" competition, also promoted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, to further elevate the Daegu Chicken and Beer Festival to a global K-food festival attracting global audiences.
