이번 사업은 단체 관광객 유치 확대와 철도 이용 관광 활성화를 통해 지역 상권과 연계한 관광 수요를 창출하기 위해 마련됐다. 영천시는 여행업 등록 업체를 대상으로 단체 관광객을 유치할 경우 인센티브를 지원해 체류형 관광을 활성화한다는 계획이다.
단체 관광 인센티브는 당일 관광과 숙박 관광으로 구분해 지원된다. 당일 관광의 경우 버스 1대당 10만 원에서 최대 30만 원까지 지원되며, 숙박 관광은 1인 1박당 2만 원에서 3만 원까지 차등 지원된다.
이와 함께 영천시는 ‘철도 연계 관광지원금’ 사업을 통해 철도를 이용하는 관외 관광객 유입을 확대하고, 체류형 관광 활성화를 도모한다. 해당 사업은 1인당 교통비와 체험비를 합해 최대 5만 원, 숙박비는 최대 2만 원까지 지원한다.
영천시는 최근 KTX-이음 증편으로 철도 접근성이 크게 개선된 만큼, 이를 관광 활성화의 계기로 삼아 지속적인 관광객 유치와 지역 관광산업 경쟁력 강화를 추진해 나갈 방침이다.
