공사에 따르면 이번 점검은 겨울철 얼어 있던 지반이 녹으면서 발생할 수 있는 토사 붕괴와 지반 침하 등 계절적 위험요인에 선제적으로 대응하기 위해 마련됐다.

정명섭 사장은 이날 직접 공사 현장을 찾아 관계자들과 간담회를 갖고 근로자들의 의견을 청취하며 실질적인 현장 안전관리 방안을 논의했다.

공사는 △절·성토 사면 및 굴착 구간의 안전 상태 △배수시설 및 지반 관리의 적정성 △중장비 작업 시 안전수칙 준수 여부 △추락·붕괴 등 전반적인 안전관리 실태를 중점 점검했다.

대구도시개발공사는 시민 행복과 도시의 미래 가치를 창출하는 공기업으로서, 앞으로도 경영진이 직접 참여하는 현장 점검을 지속 실시해 사업장 내 안전사고를 예방한다는 방침이다.

정명섭 사장은 “건설 현장에서 안전은 무엇보다 우선되는 가치”라며 “해빙기에는 작은 위험요인도 대형사고로 이어질 수 있는 만큼 사전 점검과 예방 중심의 안전관리에 만전을 기해야 한다”고 강조했다. 이어 “지속적인 현장 확인을 통해 ‘중대재해 ZERO’의 안전한 건설현장을 조성하겠다”고 밝혔다.
