【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=국민의힘이 6·3 지방선거를 앞두고 대구·경북(TK) 지역 공천 신청 접수를 마감한 결과 광역단체장과 기초단체장을 포함해 133명이 공천 경쟁에 나선 것으로 집계됐다. 여기에 대구시의원과 경북도의원 공천 신청자 184명까지 포함하면 지방선거 공천 경쟁 규모는 더욱 커질 전망이다.

국민의힘에 따르면 광역단체장 공천에는 대구시장 9명, 경북도지사 6명 등 총 15명이 신청했다.

대구시장 공천에는 유영하·윤재옥·주호영·추경호·최은석 국회의원 등 현역 의원 5명을 비롯해 이진숙 전 방송통신위원장, 이재만 전 동구청장, 홍석준 전 국회의원, 김한구 전 달성군 새마을협의회 감사 등이 도전장을 냈다.

경북도지사 공천에는 이철우 현 도지사를 비롯해 김재원 국민의힘 최고위원, 임이자 국회의원, 최경환 전 경제부총리, 이강덕 전 포항시장, 백승주 전 국회의원이 신청했다.

기초단체장 공천 경쟁도 치열하다.

대구에서는 9개 구·군 단체장 공천에 총 38명이 신청했다. 중구청장에는 류규하, 정장수 등 2명이 이름을 올렸다. 동구청장에는 권기일, 배기철, 서호영, 우성진, 이재혁, 정해용, 차수환, 비공개 1명 등 8명이 신청했다. 서구청장에는 권오상, 김대현, 송영헌, 이종배 등 4명이 공천 경쟁에 나섰다.

남구청장에는 조재구 현 구청장이 단독 신청했다. 북구청장에는 김규학, 김지만, 김진상, 박갑상, 이근수, 이동욱, 이상길, 하병문 등 8명이 경쟁한다. 수성구청장에는 김대권, 김대현, 이진훈, 전경원, 황시혁 등 5명이 신청했다.

달서구청장에는 권근상, 김용판, 김형일, 손인호, 조홍철, 홍성주 등 6명이 공천을 신청했으며, 달성군수에는 최재훈 군수가 단독으로 신청했다. 군위군수에는 김영만, 김진열, 신태환 등 3명이 공천 경쟁에 나섰다.

경북에서는 22개 시·군 단체장 공천에 총 80명이 신청했다.

포항시장 공천에는 공원식, 김병욱, 김일만, 모성은, 문충운, 박대기, 박승호, 박용선, 이칠구, 안승대 등 10명이 신청해 가장 치열한 경쟁 구도를 보였다.

경주시장에는 박병훈, 여준기, 이창화, 정병두, 주낙영 등 5명이 공천을 신청했다. 김천시장에는 나영민, 배낙호 등 2명이 도전장을 냈다. 안동시장에는 권광택, 권기창, 권백신, 김의승 등 4명이 경쟁한다.

구미시장에는 김장호, 임명배 등 2명이 신청했으며 영주시장에는 박성만, 송명달, 유정근, 최영섭, 황병직 등 5명이 공천 경쟁에 나섰다. 영천시장에는 김병삼, 김섭 등 2명이 신청했다.

상주시장에는 강영석, 남영숙, 안경숙, 안재민, 황천모 등 5명이 신청했고 문경시장에는 김학홍, 신현국, 엄원식 등 3명이 이름을 올렸다. 경산시장에는 조현일 현 시장이 단독 신청했다.

예천군수에는 김학동, 도기욱, 안병윤 등 3명이 신청했으며 청도군수에는 김하수, 이선희 등 2명이 공천 경쟁에 나섰다. 영양군수에는 권영택, 김병곤, 김석현, 오도창 등 4명이 신청했다.

봉화군수에는 김동룡, 박만우, 박현국, 최기영, 홍성구 등 5명이 신청했으며 의성군수에는 강성주, 이영훈, 이충원, 장근호, 최유철, 최익봉, 김동현 등 7명이 경쟁한다.

청송군수에는 우병윤, 윤경희, 윤종도 등 3명이 신청했고 영덕군수에는 강웅원, 김광열, 박병일, 이희진, 조주홍 등 5명이 공천 경쟁에 나섰다. 울진군수에는 손병복, 전찬걸 등 2명이 신청했다.

울릉군수에는 김병수, 남진복 등 2명이 신청했으며 성주군수에는 이병환, 이상길, 전화식, 정영길, 최성곤 등 5명이 이름을 올렸다. 칠곡군수에는 김재욱, 한승환 등 2명이 신청했고 고령군수에는 이남철 군수가 단독 신청했다.

지방의회 공천 경쟁도 본격화됐다.

대구시의원 공천에는 비례를 포함해 총 74명이 신청했으며 경북도의원 공천에는 비례를 포함해 110명이 신청했다.

대구에서는 북구와 달서구, 수성구 등 인구가 많은 지역을 중심으로 다자 경쟁이 형성됐고, 경북에서는 포항·구미·경산·경주 등 주요 도시 선거구에서 복수 후보가 공천 경쟁에 나선 것으로 나타났다.

지역 정치권에서는 보수 지지세가 강한 TK 지역 특성상 “공천이 곧 당선”이라는 인식이 강해 당내 경선이 사실상 본선과 같은 의미를 갖는다는 분석이 나온다.

국민의힘은 앞으로 서류 심사와 면접, 여론조사 등을 거쳐 경선 지역을 확정한 뒤 공천 절차를 본격적으로 진행할 계획이다.

The People Power Party has closed its nomination application period for the Daegu-Gyeongbuk (TK) region ahead of the June 3 local elections. A total of 133 candidates, including metropolitan and basic local government heads, have filed for the nomination. The scale of the local election nomination race is expected to expand further when the 184 applicants for Daegu City Council and Gyeongbuk Provincial Council are included.

According to the People Power Party, a total of 15 candidates have filed for the metropolitan mayoral nomination, including nine for the Daegu mayor and six for the Gyeongbuk governor.

The Daegu mayoral nomination includes five incumbent National Assembly members: Yoo Young-ha, Yoon Jae-ok, Joo Ho-young, Choo Kyung-ho, and Choi Eun-seok. Other candidates include former Korea Communications Commission Chairperson Lee Jin-sook, former Dong-gu District Mayor Lee Jae-man, former National Assembly member Hong Seok-jun, and former Dalseong County Saemaul Council auditor Kim Han-gu.

The candidates for the North Gyeongsang Province gubernatorial nomination include incumbent Governor Lee Cheol-woo, People Power Party Supreme Council member Kim Jae-won, National Assembly member Lim I-ja, former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Choi Kyung-hwan, former Pohang Mayor Lee Kang-deok, and former National Assembly member Baek Seung-ju.

The competition for local government heads is also fierce.

In Daegu, a total of 38 candidates applied for the nine district and county mayoral elections. Two candidates, Ryu Gyu-ha and Jeong Jang-soo, filed for the Jung-gu mayoral election. Eight candidates applied for the Dong-gu mayoral election: Kwon Ki-il, Bae Ki-cheol, Seo Ho-young, Woo Sung-jin, Lee Jae-hyeok, Jeong Hae-yong, Cha Su-hwan, and one undisclosed candidate. Four candidates, Kwon Oh-sang, Kim Dae-hyun, Song Yeong-heon, and Lee Jong-bae, are competing for the Seo-gu mayoral election.

Cho Jae-gu, the incumbent mayor of Nam-gu, filed alone. Eight candidates are vying for the Buk-gu mayoral election: Kim Gyu-hak, Kim Ji-man, Kim Jin-sang, Park Gap-sang, Lee Geun-soo, Lee Dong-wook, Lee Sang-gil, and Ha Byeong-moon. Five candidates have applied for the Suseong-gu mayoral election: Kim Dae-kwon, Kim Dae-hyun, Lee Jin-hoon, Jeon Gyeong-won, and Hwang Si-hyuk.

Six candidates have applied for the Dalseo-gu mayoral election: Kwon Geun-sang, Kim Yong-pan, Kim Hyeong-il, Son In-ho, Jo Hong-cheol, and Hong Seong-ju. Choi Jae-hoon, the sole candidate for Dalseong County mayor, has applied. Three candidates are vying for the Gunwi County mayoral election: Kim Yeong-man, Kim Jin-yeol, and Shin Tae-hwan.

In Gyeongbuk Province, a total of 80 candidates have applied for the 22 city and county mayoral elections.

The Pohang mayoral election saw the most intense competition, with 10 candidates: Gong Won-sik, Kim Byeong-wook, Kim Il-man, Mo Seong-eun, Moon Chung-un, Park Dae-gi, Park Seung-ho, Park Yong-seon, Lee Chil-gu, and Ahn Seung-dae.

Five candidates have applied for the Gyeongju mayoral race: Park Byeong-hun, Yeo Jun-ki, Lee Chang-hwa, Jeong Byeong-du, and Joo Nak-young. Two candidates, Na Yeong-min and Bae Nak-ho, have filed for the Gimcheon mayoral race. Four candidates, Kwon Gwang-taek, Kwon Gi-chang, Kwon Baek-sin, and Kim Eui-seung, are competing for the Andong mayoral race.

Two candidates, Kim Jang-ho and Myeong-bae, have filed for the Gumi mayoral race. Five candidates, Park Seong-man, Song Myeong-dal, Yoo Jeong-geun, Choi Yeong-seop, and Hwang Byeong-jik, are vying for the Yeongju mayoral race. Two candidates, Kim Byeong-sam and Kim Seop, have filed for the Yeongcheon mayoral race.

Five candidates, Kang Yeong-seok, Nam Yeong-suk, Ahn Gyeong-suk, Ahn Jae-min, and Hwang Cheon-mo, have filed for the Sangju mayoral race. Three candidates, Kim Hak-hong, Shin Hyun-guk, and Eom Won-sik, have filed for the Mungyeong mayoral race. Incumbent Mayor Cho Hyun-il is the sole candidate for Gyeongsan mayoral race.

Two candidates, Kim Ha-su and Lee Seon-hee, are competing for the Cheongdo County Mayor nomination. Four candidates, Kwon Young-taek, Kim Byeong-gon, Kim Seok-hyeon, and Oh Do-chang, have applied for the Yeongyang County Mayor nomination.

Five candidates, Kim Dong-ryong, Park Man-woo, Park Hyeon-guk, Choi Gi-yeong, and Hong Seong-gu, have applied for the Bonghwa County Mayor nomination. Seven candidates, Kang Seong-ju, Lee Yeong-hoon, Lee Chung-won, Jang Geun-ho, Choi Yu-cheol, Choi Ik-bong, and Kim Dong-hyeon, are competing for the Uiseong County Mayor nomination.

Three candidates, Woo Byeong-yun, Yoon Gyeong-hee, and Yoon Jong-do, have applied for the Cheongsong County Mayor nomination. Five candidates, Kang Woong-won, Kim Gwang-yeol, Park Byeong-il, Lee Hee-jin, and Jo Ju-hong, have applied for the Yeongdeok County Mayor nomination. Two candidates, Son Byeong-bok and Jeon Chan-geol, have applied for the Uljin County Mayor nomination.

Two candidates, Kim Byeong-su and Nam Jin-bok, applied for Ulleung County Mayor, while five candidates, Lee Byeong-hwan, Lee Sang-gil, Jeon Hwa-sik, Jeong Yeong-gil, and Choi Seong-gon, applied for Seongju County Mayor. Two candidates, Kim Jae-wook and Han Seung-hwan, applied for Chilgok County Mayor, and Lee Nam-cheol filed alone for Goryeong County Mayor.

The competition for local council nominations has also intensified.

A total of 74 candidates, including proportional representation, applied for Daegu City Council nominations, and 110 candidates, including proportional representation, applied for Gyeongbuk Provincial Council nominations.

In Daegu, a multi-candidate race emerged, centered around populous districts such as Buk-gu, Dalseo-gu, and Suseong-gu. In Gyeongbuk, multiple candidates competed for nominations in major urban constituencies such as Pohang, Gumi, Gyeongsan, and Gyeongju.

In local politics, given the strong conservative base in the TK region, there is a strong perception that "nominations are tantamount to elections," leading some to believe that party primaries are effectively equivalent to general elections.

The People Power Party plans to begin the primary election process in earnest after finalizing the primary districts through document screening, interviews, and public opinion polls.
