【브레이크뉴스 구미】이성현 기자=국립금오공과대학교는 ‘2026 경북 구미 강소연구개발특구 통합사업설명회’를 오는 4월 14일과 16일 두 차례에 걸쳐 개최한다고 밝혔다.
금오공대 강소특구육성사업단은 특구 내 유관기관과 기업협의체, 신규 법인 및 스타트업 등을 대상으로 올해 주요 지원사업과 추진 방향을 공유하고 기업 참여를 확대하기 위해 이번 설명회를 마련했다.
특히 경북 구미 강소연구개발특구 2단계 사업이 본격화되는 시점에 맞춰 창업, 기술사업화, 글로벌 진출까지 이어지는 전주기 지원 체계를 집중 소개할 계획이다.
설명회는 14일 금오테크노밸리, 16일 구미전자정보기술원에서 각각 열린다. 행사에는 금오공대 RISE사업단을 비롯해 경북서부지식재산센터, 경북디자인주도제조혁신센터 등이 참여해 기관별 지원사업과 정책을 안내한다.
또한 사전 수요조사를 통해 예비창업자부터 앵커기업까지 다양한 기업의 애로사항과 지원 수요를 파악하고, 현장에서는 맞춤형 1대1 상담도 함께 진행된다.
경북 구미 강소특구는 올해 대기업과의 실증(PoC)을 중심으로 한 신규 과제와 글로벌 진출을 위한 해외 플랫폼 구축 지원사업을 새롭게 추진한다. 이를 통해 지역 기업의 가치사슬(Value Chain)을 강화하고 해외 시장 진입을 통한 지속 성장 기반을 마련한다는 구상이다.
권오형 강소특구육성사업단장은 “이번 설명회가 특구 내 기업들의 기술사업화 이해도를 높이고 대학의 다양한 지원사업을 적극 활용하는 계기가 되길 바란다”며 “2단계 사업을 통해 지원체계를 고도화해 기업 성장에 실질적인 도움이 되도록 하겠다”고 말했다.
한편 경북 구미 강소특구는 ‘기술창업희망 예비(초기)창업자 모집’을 오는 5월 6일까지 진행 중이며, 창업교육과 멘토링, 시제품 제작비 등을 지원해 예비 및 초기 창업자의 안정적인 사업화를 돕고 있다.

Kumoh National Institute of Technology announced that it will hold the "2026 Gyeongbuk Gumi Small-Scale R&D Special Zone Integrated Project Briefing" on two occasions, on April 14 and 16.
The Kumoh National Institute of Technology’s Small-Scale Special Zone Development Project Team organized this briefing to share this year’s key support projects and implementation directions with relevant institutions, corporate councils, new corporations, and startups within the special zone, and to expand corporate participation.
In particular, coinciding with the full-scale launch of the second phase of the Gyeongbuk Gumi Small-Scale R&D Special Zone project, the plan is to focus on introducing a full-cycle support system that spans from startups and technology commercialization to global expansion.
The briefings will be held at Kumoh Techno Valley on the 14th and at the Gumi Electronics & Information Technology Institute on the 16th, respectively. Participating in the event are the RISE Project Group of Kumoh National University of Technology, the Western Gyeongbuk Intellectual Property Center, and the Gyeongbuk Design-led Manufacturing Innovation Center, who will provide information on their respective support programs and policies.
In addition, through a preliminary needs assessment, the challenges and support needs of various companies—ranging from prospective entrepreneurs to anchor firms—will be identified, and customized one-on-one consultations will be conducted on-site.
The Gumi Small Giant Special Zone in Gyeongbuk is newly launching projects this year centered on Proof of Concept (PoC) with large corporations, as well as a support program for establishing overseas platforms to facilitate global expansion. The plan is to strengthen the value chains of local companies and establish a foundation for sustainable growth through entry into overseas markets.
Kwon Oh-hyung, Head of the Small Giant Special Zone Development Project Group, stated, "I hope this briefing session serves as an opportunity for companies within the zone to enhance their understanding of technology commercialization and actively utilize the various support programs offered by the universities." He added, "We will further refine the support system through the second phase of the project to provide tangible assistance for corporate growth."
Meanwhile, the Gumi Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Special Zone in North Gyeongsang Province is recruiting prospective (early-stage) entrepreneurs hoping to start a technology business until May 6, and is helping prospective and early-stage entrepreneurs achieve stable commercialization by providing startup education, mentoring, and support for prototype production costs.
