영천시는 문외동에 조성된 ‘천원주택(문외동 126-2)’의 첫 입주가 지난 27일부터 시작됐다고 밝혔다.

이번 사업은 영천시와 경상북도개발공사가 협약을 통해 추진한 지역맞춤형 매입임대주택으로, 총 20호 규모로 조성됐다. 입주자는 월 3만 원의 임대료만 부담하면 되며, 실제 임대료와의 차액은 시가 보전해 최장 6년간 지원받게 된다.

앞서 지난 1월 진행된 입주자 모집에서는 20호 공급에 441건이 접수돼 평균 22대 1의 경쟁률을 기록하며 높은 관심을 입증했다.

영천시는 문외동 사업의 호응을 바탕으로, 내년 상반기 준공 예정인 금호읍 매입임대주택 42호까지 사업을 확대해 더 많은 청년과 신혼부부에게 주거 지원을 이어갈 계획이다.

시 관계자는 “천원주택은 청년과 신혼부부의 주거 부담을 실질적으로 덜어주는 정책”이라며 “앞으로도 시민이 체감할 수 있는 다양한 지원을 통해 정주 여건 개선에 힘쓰겠다”고 밝혔다.
