Pohang Conducts Final Inspection of Haksan Park Ahead of Opening
Pohang City is accelerating final preparations for the official opening of Haksan Park, which is set to become a new urban relaxation space for citizens, by conducting on-site inspections with experts.
The Pohang City Urban Park Committee recently visited the Haksan Park development site in Buk-gu to carry out a comprehensive pre-completion inspection. The review was conducted to share the progress of the project, which was promoted under a private park development initiative, and to evaluate the convenience and safety of public facilities from a professional perspective.
The inspection team, consisting of seven members including the head of the Green City Project Division and Urban Park Committee members, received a briefing on the project at the “Neoreun Madang” parking area, a key hub of the park. They then toured the entire park on foot, carefully checking the condition of various facilities.
In particular, the team focused on inspecting the “barrier-free playground” designed for children, the elderly, and other mobility-vulnerable users. Committee members closely examined safety and usability factors such as the slope angles of wheelchair-accessible ramps, the elasticity of ground paving materials, and the stability of play equipment.
During the discussion that followed the inspection, participants gave a positive assessment, noting that the park achieves a balance between preserving urban green space and providing convenient facilities for citizens. However, they also pointed out the need for some additional landscaping and the installation of more informational signage.
A Pohang City official said, “We will actively reflect the experts’ opinions and thoroughly address any shortcomings before the opening,” adding, “We will ensure that Haksan Park becomes a safe and comfortable healing space for citizens.”
Meanwhile, based on the inspection results, Pohang City plans to complete the handover process in early May and fully open Haksan Park to the public as soon as possible.
