【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=경상북도가 중소벤처기업부 주관 ‘지역혁신선도기업육성 연구개발(R&D)’ 공모사업에서 도내 중소기업 28개사가 최종 선정됐다고 밝혔다.
‘지역혁신선도기업육성 연구개발(R&D) 사업’은 비수도권 지역 중소기업을 대상으로 추진되는 연구개발 지원사업으로, 산학협력 기반 기술혁신과 지역 대표기업 육성을 목표로 하고 있다.
사업은 선도기업 중심의 기술혁신 생태계 조성을 위한 ‘주력산업 생태계 구축 사업’과 기업 기술개발 역량 강화를 위한 ‘지역기업 역량강화 사업’으로 나뉘어 운영된다.
주력산업 생태계 구축 사업은 2년간 최대 14억 원, 지역기업 역량강화 사업은 2년간 최대 4억 원의 연구개발비를 지원한다.
이번 공모에는 매출액과 매출 증가율, 연구개발 역량 등 요건을 충족한 전국 기업들이 참여했으며, 전문기관 평가를 거쳐 전국 306개 기업이 최종 선정됐다.
이 가운데 경북은 총 28개 기업이 선정돼 2년간 국비 69억 원을 확보했으며, 경북도는 지방비 29억 원을 추가 투입할 계획이다.
선정 기업들은 전기·전자와 모빌리티, 에너지·환경 등 경북의 주력산업 분야 중소기업들로, 확보한 연구개발 자금을 활용해 신기술 개발과 제품 고도화 등 기술개발 사업을 추진하게 된다.
양금희 경북도 경제부지사는 “지역의 역량 있는 기업을 발굴해 지역 경제를 견인할 대표기업으로 육성하는 것이 이번 사업의 핵심”이라며 “연구개발 성과가 실제 사업화로 이어질 수 있도록 지원체계를 강화해 지역의 신성장동력 확보와 산업 경쟁력 제고에 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.
한편 경북도는 지역산업 육성을 위해 연구개발 지원사업 외에도 성장사다리 지원사업과 시군구 연고산업 육성사업 등 비연구개발(비R&D) 사업을 지속 추진하며 지역경제 활성화와 일자리 창출에 나서고 있다.

Gyeongsangbuk-do announced that 28 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the province were finally selected for the ‘Regional Innovation Leading Enterprise Fostering R&D’ open call project organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
The ‘Regional Innovation Leading Enterprise Fostering R&D Project’ is an R&D support program targeting SMEs in non-metropolitan areas, aiming to foster technological innovation based on industry-academia collaboration and cultivate representative regional companies.
The project is divided into two initiatives: the ‘Key Industry Ecosystem Establishment Project,’ designed to create a technology innovation ecosystem centered on leading enterprises, and the ‘Regional Enterprise Capacity Building Project,’ aimed at strengthening corporate technology development capabilities.
The Key Industry Ecosystem Establishment Project provides up to 1.4 billion won in R&D funding over two years, while the Regional Enterprise Capacity Building Project provides up to 400 million won over two years.
Companies from across the country that met requirements such as sales revenue, sales growth rate, and R&D capabilities participated in this open call. Following evaluations by specialized agencies, 306 companies were finally selected.
Among these, Gyeongbuk had a total of 28 companies selected, securing 6.9 billion won in state funding over two years, while the provincial government plans to invest an additional 2.9 billion won in local funds.
The selected companies are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Gyeongbuk's key industrial sectors, including electrical and electronics, mobility, and energy and environment. They will utilize the secured R&D funds to pursue technology development projects, such as the development of new technologies and product enhancement.
Yang Geum-hee, Vice Governor for Economic Affairs of Gyeongbuk Province, stated, "The core of this project is to identify capable local companies and nurture them into leading enterprises that will drive the regional economy." She added, "We will strengthen our support system to ensure that R&D achievements lead to actual commercialization, striving to secure new growth engines for the region and enhance industrial competitiveness."
Meanwhile, Gyeongbuk Province is working to revitalize the local economy and create jobs by continuously promoting non-R&D projects, such as the Growth Ladder Support Project and the Local Industry Development Project for Cities, Counties, and Districts, in addition to R&D support projects, to foster regional industries.
