국민의힘 대구 국회의원들은 8일 기자회견을 열고 “재판이 진행 중인 권력자의 사건을 법으로 덮으려는 시도는 단순한 정치 공방을 넘어서, 삼권분립과 사법 질서를 흔드는 심각한 문제”라고 지적했다.

이어 “누구도 자신의 사건에서 재판관이 될 수 없다는 게 법치주의의 가장 기본 원칙”이라며 “민주당이 발의한 공소 취소 특검법은 사실상 특검에 공소 취소 권한을 부여해 이재명 대통령의 재판을 스스로 끝내자는 것과 다름없다”고 주장했다.

또 “이 법안은 전례 없는 사법 농단이자, 사실상 사법 내란”이라며 “재판 중인 사건의 공소를 국회가 취소하겠다는 건 사법부 권한 침해이자 명백한 위헌 행위”라고 목소리를 높였다.

특검 수사 대상 12건 가운데 8건이 이재명 대통령 관련 사건임을 언급하며, “한 사람의 사법 리스크를 없애려고 국가 사법 시스템 전체를 뒤흔드는 행위”라고 비판했다.

아울러 이들은 민주당과 김부겸 후보에 대해서도 날을 세웠다.  “민주당이 법안 처리를 지방선거 이후로 미루겠다는 태도는 진짜 철회가 아니라, 선거 전까지 숨겨놓겠다는 것일 뿐”이라며 “김부겸 후보 역시 법안의 위헌성과 사법 질서 훼손 문제엔 침묵하면서, 정치적 부담만 이야기하고 있다”고 말했다.

또 “스스로 합리적 정치인임을 내세우면서, 사법 질서 문제 앞에선 침묵하는 것은 결국 위선”이라며 “대구 시민들은 결코 이용당하지 않을 것”이라고 강조했다.

국민의힘 의원들은 “공소 취소 특검법은 시기가 언제든 반드시 막아낼 것”이라며 “이번 선거는 법치와 방탄 정치 중 하나를 선택해야 하는 선거”라고 밝혔다.

Noting that eight out of the 12 cases under special counsel investigation are related to President Lee Jae-myung, they criticized the move as “an act that shakes the entire national judicial system to eliminate the judicial risk of a single individual.”

Furthermore, they sharpened their attacks on the Democratic Party and candidate Kim Boo-kyum. They stated, “The Democratic Party’s stance of postponing the bill’s processing until after the local elections is not a genuine withdrawal, but merely an attempt to keep it hidden until the election,” adding, “Candidate Kim Boo-kyum is also remaining silent on the bill’s unconstitutionality and the issue of undermining the judicial order, while only talking about political burdens.”

They further emphasized, “Claiming to be rational politicians while remaining silent in the face of issues regarding the judicial order is ultimately hypocrisy,” and asserted, “The citizens of Daegu will never be used.”

Lawmakers from the People Power Party stated, “We will definitely block the special prosecutor bill to cancel the indictment whenever the time comes,” adding, “This election is one where we must choose between the rule of law and ‘bulletproof politics.’”
