 【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=국민의힘 추경호 대구시장 후보가 12일 경북 선거대책위원회 필승 결의대회에 참석해 “이번 선거는 단순한 지방선거가 아니라 자유민주주의를 지키느냐 마느냐가 걸린 중요한 선거”라며 대구·경북이 ‘원팀’으로 뭉쳐 압승해야 한다고 거듭 강조했다.

이날 발대식에서 추 후보는 “이번 선거는 이철우 경북도지사 후보와 저 추경호, 그리고 여기 계신 빨간 옷의 여러분 한 사람 한 사람이 당선되느냐 안 되느냐도 중요하지만, 그 이상의 의미가 있다. 바로 대한민국의 자유민주주의를 지켜내는 것이 걸린 선거”라고 목소리를 높였다.

그는 “우리의 어깨가 무겁다”며 “지금 분위기가 조금 유리하다고 안주할 수 없다. 이번 선거는 꼭 압승해야 한다”고 힘주어 말했다.

이어 “자나 깨나 대구는 경북을, 경북은 대구를 생각해야 한다. 이철우는 추경호 생각, 추경호는 이철우 생각을 하면서 6월 3일까지 함께 가는 것”이라고 강조했다.

이철우 경북도지사 후보를 향한 고마움과 지원 요청도 잊지 않았다. 추 후보는 “이철우 후보께서 처음부터 저를 응원해주시고 대구를 걱정해주셨다. 매일같이 대구를 위해 힘써주시고 있다”고 말했다. 그러면서 “그래도 대구 시민들도, 저 역시도 불안한 마음이 크다. 밤늦게 집에 들어가면 ‘오늘도 이철우 지사님이 많이 도와주셨겠지’ 하는 생각을 한다”며 현장에 웃음과 박수를 자아냈다.

또 “우리 동지들, 그리고 고향을 생각하면 힘이 나고 잠도 잘 온다”며 “대구와 경북이 함께 간다면 TK의 힘도 제대로 발휘될 것”이라고 덧붙였다.

추 후보는 마지막으로 “오늘 이후에도 계속 대구에 힘을 모아달라”며 “대구·경북이 함께 압승해 대한민국을 지키고, 새로운 도약을 만들어가자”고 호소했다.
