【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=국민의힘 추경호 대구시장 후보가 이재명 대통령의 대구·경북(TK) 방문을 앞두고 TK신공항의 국가책임 추진과 대통령의 선거 중립 문제를 공개적으로 꺼내들며 공세 수위를 높이고 있다.

추 후보는 14일 자신의 페이스북을 통해 ‘이재명 대통령께 묻는다. 대구에 오신다면 답을 가지고 오십시오’라는 제목의 메시지를 발표했다.

추 후보는 “대통령의 지방 방문이 지방선거용 관권선거 논란으로 이어져서는 안 된다”며 “대구 시민들은 보여주기식 방문이 아니라, 대통령의 명확한 입장과 결단을 원한다”고 밝혔다.

특히 TK신공항 문제에 대해서는 “신공항 사업은 국가균형발전과 안보를 위한 국가전략사업인 만큼, 국가가 주도해 추진해야 한다고 꾸준히 주장해왔다”고 강조했다. 

이어 “최근 김부겸 후보도 국가책임 추진 필요성에 동의하고 있다”며 “이제 남은 것은 대통령의 결단뿐”이라고 했다. 그러면서 “대구에 온다면 TK신공항을 국가사업으로 책임 있게 추진할 것인지 확실한 답을 내놓아야 한다”고 촉구했다.

전직 대통령 예우와 국민통합 문제도 함께 언급했다. 추 후보는 “취임 1년이 다 되도록 전직 대통령들과 통합 메시지나 명예 회복 조치에는 무관심했다”며 “자신의 재판은 지우려 하면서 국민통합과 전직 대통령 예우에는 침묵하는 대통령의 모습을 국민들이 납득하겠느냐”고 비판했다.

또한 “민주당이 공소취소 특검법 추진에 몰두하고 있다”며 “국민들은 법치주의를 흔드는 범죄 세탁 시도에 대해 엄중히 지켜보고 있다”고 지적했다.

추 후보는 지방선거 기간 대통령의 지역 방문이 민주당 후보 지원으로 비칠 수 있다는 점도 꼬집었다. 그는 “후보 등록 직후 여당이 열세이거나 경합 중인 지역에 대통령이 나타난다면 관권선거로 받아들여질 수밖에 없다”며 “선거 중립 의무 위반 논란이 재현된다면 이번 지방선거는 지역 일꾼을 뽑는 자리가 아니라 대통령 심판 선거로 변질될 것”이라고 경고했다.

더불어민주당 김부겸 대구시장 후보를 향해서도 “대통령과 소통할 힘 있는 여당 후보라고 호소만 하지 말고, 대통령의 분명한 답변을 요구해야 한다”고 압박했다.
