【브레이크뉴스】박영재 기자=사단법인 한국다문화협회 최원용 회장과 회원들이 5월 가정의 달을 맞아 지역 요양병원을 찾아 어르신들을 위한 정서지원 봉사활동을 펼쳤다.

17일 협회에 따르면 이번 봉사활동은 요양병원 입원 어르신들의 정서적 안정을 돕고 여가 활동을 지원하기 위해 마련됐다. 이날 회원들은 어르신들과 함께 풍선 만들기와 레크리에이션을 진행하며 말벗이 돼주는 등 교감의 시간을 가졌다.

봉사에 참여한 다문화가정 회원들은 병실과 휴게공간을 돌며 어르신들과 대화를 나누고 풍선 놀이를 함께 하며 웃음을 전했다.

최원용 회장은 “초고령 사회로 접어들면서 요양보호 인력 부족 문제가 점차 심각해지고 있다”며 “다문화가정이 요양보호 분야의 중요한 인력 자원으로 자리 잡을 수 있도록 지원하고, 안정적인 지역사회 정착과 일자리 연계를 위해 협회 차원의 노력을 이어가겠다”고 말했다.

이어 “다문화가정이 지역사회와 함께 성장하며 사회통합에 기여할 수 있도록 복지·봉사 활동과 직업 연계 프로그램을 확대할 계획”이라고 밝혔다.

한편 사단법인 한국다문화협회는 다문화가정의 지역사회 정착과 사회참여 확대를 위해 교육·복지·봉사 분야 사업을 추진하고 있다.
