【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=경북 구미시가 반도체 장비용 핵심 소재와 부품의 제조·검증을 지원하는 첨단 테스트베드 구축에 본격적으로 나선다.
구미시는 국가1산업단지 방림부지 내 첨단반도체 연구단지에 ‘반도체 장비 챔버용 소재·부품 제조 및 검증 테스트베드 구축 사업’을 추진한다고 밝혔다.
이 사업에는 국비 150억 원을 포함해 총 400억 원이 투입된다. 완공 목표는 2030년 12월이다.
테스트베드에는 기술지원센터 신축과 함께 반도체 장비 챔버용 핵심 소재·부품 제조·검증을 위한 44종의 장비가 구축된다. 앞으로는 반도체 공정 장비의 핵심 부품에 대한 시험과 실증, 양산 전환까지 지역에서 직접 지원할 수 있게 된다.
반도체 챔버는 웨이퍼 공정을 담당하는 핵심 장비 공간으로, 내부 소재와 부품의 높은 정밀도와 내구성이 중요한 만큼 고난도 기술이 요구된다. 구미에 들어서는 이번 테스트베드는 해당 핵심 소재와 부품의 국산화 기반을 다지고, 공급망 안정화에도 큰 역할을 할 전망이다.
이번 사업은 당초 정부 예산안에는 포함되지 않았으나, 2026년도 국회 예산 심의 과정에서 구자근 의원의 주도 아래 신규로 반영되고, 예산이 증액된 것으로 전해졌다.
구 의원은 이 과정에서 추가 증액과 다양한 지원 확보를 이끌어내 구미시 최대 규모인 7,870억 원의 국비 확보에 힘을 보탰다는 평가를 받고 있다.
테스트베드가 들어설 방림부지는 오랜 기간 활용되지 못했던 곳으로, 이번 사업을 계기로 도시 재생 효과도 기대된다. 구미시는 앞으로 문화선도산단 사업 등과 연계해 산업과 도시 기능을 함께 강화할 방침이다.

Gumi City plans to strengthen both industrial and urban functions by linking it with projects such as the Cultural Leading Industrial Complex.
