【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=한국수력원자력이 가정의 달을 맞아 임직원 가족과 함께 시각장애 아동을 위한 봉사활동을 펼치며 따뜻한 나눔을 실천했다.

한국수력원자력(사장 김회천)은 지난 16일 임직원과 가족 30여 명이 참여한 가운데 시각장애 아동을 위한 ‘특별한 도서 제작’ 봉사활동을 진행하고, 사회복지법인 하트-하트재단에 기부금 1,000만 원을 전달했다고 밝혔다.

이날 참가자들은 경주 본사 인근 회의실에서 하트-하트재단과 함께 점자·음성 도서에 다양한 촉감 재질의 키트를 직접 부착하며 시각장애 아동들이 손끝으로 사물을 느끼고 학습할 수 있는 맞춤형 도서를 제작했다.

완성된 도서는 전국 시각장애학교와 점자도서관, 특수학급이 운영되는 초등학교 등에 전달돼 시각장애 아동들의 교육과 독서 활동에 활용될 예정이다.

봉사활동에 앞서 진행된 장애인식 개선 교육도 의미를 더했다. 참가자들은 시각장애인의 정보 접근 환경과 일상 속 불편함을 이해하고, 장애에 대한 올바른 인식과 배려의 중요성을 배우는 시간을 가졌다.

봉사에 참여한 한 직원은 “가족과 함께 뜻깊은 나눔 활동에 참여하며 장애에 대한 이해를 넓힐 수 있어 더욱 의미 있었다”며 “작은 정성이 아이들에게 도움이 되길 바란다”고 소감을 전했다.

한수원 관계자는 “가정의 달을 맞아 가족이 함께 사회공헌 활동에 참여하며 나눔의 가치를 공유하는 뜻깊은 시간이었다”며 “앞으로도 미래세대와 지역사회가 공감할 수 있는 다양한 사회공헌 프로그램을 지속적으로 확대해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

KHNP Practices Sharing with Employees' Families During Family Month… Production of Books for Visually Impaired Children

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) practiced warm sharing by conducting volunteer activities for visually impaired children together with employees' families to mark Family Month.

KHNP (President Kim Hoe-cheon) announced that on the 16th, approximately 30 employees and their families participated in a "special book production" volunteer activity for visually impaired children, and donated 10 million won to the Heart-Heart Foundation.

On that day, participants worked with the Heart-Heart Foundation in a conference room near the Gyeongju headquarters to create customized books that allow visually impaired children to feel objects with their fingertips and learn by directly attaching kits with various tactile materials to Braille and audiobooks.

The completed books will be delivered to schools for the visually impaired, Braille libraries, and elementary schools with special education classes nationwide to be used for the education and reading activities of visually impaired children.

Disability awareness training conducted prior to the volunteer activity also added significance. Participants had the opportunity to understand the information access environment and daily inconveniences faced by the visually impaired, and to learn the importance of proper awareness and consideration regarding disabilities.

One employee who participated in the volunteer work shared their thoughts, saying, “It was especially meaningful to participate in this significant sharing activity with my family and to broaden our understanding of disabilities,” adding, “I hope this small gesture of kindness will be of help to the children.”

A KHNP official stated, “In celebration of Family Month, it was a meaningful time for families to participate in social contribution activities together and share the value of giving,” adding, “We will continue to expand various social contribution programs that resonate with future generations and local communities.”
