글로컬대학 대구보건대학교(총장 남성희)는 18일 교내 본관 1층 로비와 헌혈버스 4대에서 ‘제28회 대구보건대학인의 헌혈 사랑 나눔 축제’를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이날 행사에는 학생과 교직원 400여 명이 참여했으며, 대한적십자사 대구경북혈액원과 함께 ‘헌혈증서 1004매 기증식’도 진행해 생명 나눔의 의미를 더했다.

대구보건대학교는 대부분 대학이 봄 축제를 공연과 먹거리 중심으로 운영하는 것과 달리, 1999년부터 매년 헌혈축제를 이어오며 생명 나눔 실천에 앞장서고 있다.

‘고통은 나눌수록 작아지고 사랑은 나눌수록 커진다’는 취지로 시작된 이 행사는 대학을 대표하는 공익 실천 행사로 자리 잡았으며, 올해까지 누적 참여 인원은 2만2,700명에 달한다.

행사 당일 본관 로비에는 이른 아침부터 헌혈에 동참하려는 학생들의 발길이 이어졌다.

처음 헌혈에 참여한 학생들은 다소 긴장한 모습이었지만, 자신의 작은 실천이 누군가의 생명을 살릴 수 있다는 사실에 의미를 되새기며 밝은 표정으로 참여했다.

특히 의료인을 꿈꾸는 학생들에게 이번 헌혈은 생명 존중의 가치를 직접 체험하고 실천하는 뜻깊은 시간이 됐다.

보건행정학과 2학년 박가은(19) 학생은 “처음에는 작은 봉사라고 생각했지만 누군가의 치료와 회복에 직접 도움이 될 수 있다는 사실을 알고 헌혈의 의미를 새롭게 느꼈다”며 “보건의료를 공부하는 학생으로서 사람의 생명을 위해 내가 할 수 있는 일을 실천했다는 점에서 큰 보람을 느꼈다”고 말했다.

함께 진행된 헌혈증서 1004매 기증식은 숫자 ‘1004’에 ‘천사’의 의미를 담아 마련됐다.

대학 구성원들이 자발적으로 기부한 헌혈증서는 백혈병과 소아암 환자 등 수혈이 필요한 이웃들에게 전달될 예정이다.

남성희 총장은 “28년 동안 이어온 헌혈축제는 대구보건대학교가 가장 소중하게 지켜온 생명 존중의 전통”이라며 “앞으로도 학생들이 따뜻한 마음과 실천력을 갖춘 보건의료인으로 성장할 수 있도록 생명 나눔 활동을 지속적으로 이어가겠다”고 밝혔다.

For students aspiring to become medical professionals, this blood donation was a meaningful time to directly experience and practice the value of respecting life.

Park Ga-eun (19), a sophomore in the Department of Health Administration, said, "At first, I thought of it as a small act of service, but realizing that it could directly help with someone's treatment and recovery, I felt the meaning of blood donation in a new way." She added, "As a student studying healthcare, I felt a great sense of fulfillment in having done what I could for the sake of human life." The accompanying donation ceremony for 1,004 blood donation certificates was organized to imbue the number '1004' with the meaning of 'angel.'

The blood donation certificates, voluntarily donated by university members, are scheduled to be delivered to neighbors in need of blood transfusions, including patients with leukemia and pediatric cancer.

President Nam Seong-hee stated, "The blood donation festival, which has continued for 28 years, is a tradition of respect for life that Daegu Health University has cherished most dearly," adding, "We will continue our life-sharing activities so that students can grow into healthcare professionals equipped with warm hearts and practical capabilities."

Spring at Daegu Health University was once again filled with a special festival where small acts of courage gathered to convey the warmth of life. This tradition, now in its 28th year, delivers a message of hope to the campus through quiet yet steadfast action.
