이어 오 후보는 전날 발생한 공평동 변압기 화재, 지난 2월 종로 음식점 화재를 언급하며 “잇따른 도심 화재의 공통 원인은 노후된 건축물과 좁은 골목, 그리고 오래된 전기설비 등 구조적인 위험에서 비롯된다”고 지적했다.

오 후보가 내놓은 대책은 ▲30년 이상 지난 상가와 다가구주택에 대한 정기 안전진단 실시 ▲화재취약지구 지정 및 소방 진입로 확보 ▲소화전 정비 우선 추진 ▲한국전력 등 관계기관과 상시 협력체계 구축 ▲변압기·배전설비 사전 점검 및 정비 강화 등으로 구성됐다.

이와 함께, 점검과 정비 결과를 분기별로 주민들에게 투명하게 공개하고, 긴급 개선계획 진행 상황 역시 보고하겠다고 약속했다.

오 후보는 “안전이야말로 모든 정책의 출발점이고, 행정이 먼저 움직여야 한다”며 “구청장으로서 이 책임을 결코 피하지 않겠다. 안전한 중구를 만들기 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 강조했다.

Candidate Oh emphasized, “Safety is the starting point of all policies, and the administration must take the lead,” adding, “As the District Mayor, I will never shirk this responsibility. I will do my utmost to create a safe Jung-gu.”
