【브레이크뉴스 구미】진예솔 기자=구미전자정보기술원 경북 가상융합혁신센터가 과학기술정보통신부와 정보통신산업진흥원이 주관하는 ‘생성형 AI 기반 가상융합 콘텐츠 제작 전문인력 양성’ 사업의 교육운영기관으로 최종 선정됐다.

이번 사업은 생성형 AI와 가상융합 콘텐츠 산업의 글로벌 경쟁력 강화를 목표로 추진되는 국책사업이다. 대학(원)생은 물론 구직자, 청년, 기업 재직자 등에게 실무 역량을 갖춘 전문인력을 배출하는 데 초점을 두고 있다.

특히 이 사업의 예산은 지난해 국회 예산 심의 과정에서 구자근 국회의원이 주도해 국비 10억 원이 증액되면서 추진에 힘이 실렸다.

구미전자정보기술원은 경북 가상융합혁신센터를 거점으로, 기초 이론 교육부터 현장 적용 실습까지 이어지는 커리큘럼을 마련할 계획이다. 생성형 AI를 활용한 콘텐츠 제작, 가상융합 기반 실감 콘텐츠 구현, 현장 중심의 프로젝트형 실습 등이 주요 프로그램으로 포함된다.

지역 산업계에서는 이번 사업을 통해 생성형 AI 콘텐츠 제작 역량을 높이고, 글로벌 OTT 시장 확대에 맞춰 전문인력 공급 체계가 구축될 것으로 기대감을 보이고 있다.

구자근 의원은 “디지털 전환과 글로벌 OTT 확산에 대응하려면 전문인력 양성이 무엇보다 시급하다”며 “구미를 중심으로 AI 콘텐츠 산업 생태계를 구축하고, 지역 기업의 경쟁력 향상을 위해 적극 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.

구미전자정보기술원 관계자 역시 “기초 교육부터 실무 프로젝트까지 단계별 체계적인 교육을 통해, 실제 산업 현장에서 바로 투입될 수 있는 실전형 인재를 키우겠다”고 전했다.

The Gyeongbuk Virtual Convergence Innovation Center at the Gumi Electronics & Information Technology Institute has been finally selected as the educational operating institution for the "Training of Professionals for Generative AI-Based Virtual Convergence Content Production" project, organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Information & Communication Technology Industry Promotion Agency (KIPA).

This project is a national initiative aimed at strengthening the global competitiveness of the generative AI and virtual convergence content industries. It focuses on producing professionals equipped with practical skills for university and graduate students, as well as job seekers, young people, and current employees.

In particular, the project gained momentum last year during the National Assembly budget review process when Representative Koo Ja-geun spearheaded an increase of 1 billion won in state funding.

Based on the Gyeongbuk Virtual Convergence Innovation Center, the Gumi Electronics & Information Technology Institute plans to establish a curriculum that spans from basic theoretical education to practical field application. Key programs include content production utilizing generative AI, the implementation of immersive content based on virtual convergence, and field-oriented project-based training.

The local industrial sector is expressing optimism that this project will enhance capabilities for producing generative AI content and establish a system for supplying specialized personnel to meet the expansion of the global OTT market.

Assemblyman Koo Ja-geun stated, “Cultivating specialized personnel is urgently needed to respond to digital transformation and the spread of global OTT,” adding, “I will actively support the establishment of an AI content industry ecosystem centered in Gumi and enhance the competitiveness of local companies.”

An official from the Gumi Electronics and Information Technology Institute also stated, “We will foster practical talent capable of being immediately deployed to actual industrial sites through systematic, step-by-step training ranging from basic education to practical projects.”
