대구광역시행복진흥사회서비스원(이하 대구행복진흥원)은 교통복지사업 ‘다 함께 대구로’의 일환으로 자립준비청년들에게 교통비를 지원했다고 밝혔다.

지원 대상은 대구시에 거주하는 만 18세 이상 자립준비청년이다. 아동양육시설과 공동생활가정, 가정위탁시설 등에서 보호가 종료된 지 3년 이내인 청년과 올해 말까지 보호 종료가 예정된 청년, 대구시청소년자립지원관 사례관리 대상자 등이 포함된다.

대구행복진흥원은 대구시 교육청소년과의 추천을 받아 경제적 어려움과 지원 필요성 등을 종합적으로 검토한 뒤 최종 100명을 지원 대상으로 선정했다.

선정된 청년들에게는 1인당 총 30만 원의 교통비가 연 3회에 걸쳐 지급된다. 이번 지원에서는 우선 10만 원 상당의 교통카드를 전달해 취업 준비와 학업, 일상생활에 필요한 이동 부담을 덜 수 있도록 했다.

자립준비청년 교통비 지원사업은 올해로 6년째 이어지고 있으며, 기존 보호종료 청년뿐 아니라 보호연장 청년까지 지원 범위를 확대해 보다 촘촘한 복지서비스를 제공하고 있다.

한편 ‘다 함께 대구로’ 사업은 대구시와 ㈜iM유페이, 대구사회복지공동모금회가 협력해 추진하는 교통복지사업이다. 장기간 사용되지 않은 교통카드 충전선수금을 재원으로 활용해 취약계층 지원과 시민 복지 증진을 위한 다양한 사업을 운영하고 있다.

대구행복진흥원은 취약계층 지원과 함께 시민들의 대중교통 이용 활성화를 위한 사업도 병행하고 있다. 대표적으로 탄소중립 실천을 위한 대중교통 이용 활성화 프로그램 ‘All 타’ 이벤트를 진행 중이다.

이 이벤트는 5월부터 9월까지 운영되며, 월 2회 이상 버스나 도시철도를 이용한 만 14세 이상 대구시민이면 누구나 신청할 수 있다. 매월 추첨을 통해 520명에게 5만 원 상당의 교통카드를 지원할 예정이다.

최희재 대구행복진흥원 원장 직무대행은 “자립준비청년들이 이동에 대한 부담을 덜고 학업과 취업, 사회활동에 보다 적극적으로 참여할 수 있기를 바란다”며 “앞으로도 청년들의 안정적인 자립을 지원하는 다양한 복지사업을 확대해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

The Daegu Happiness Promotion Agency selected a final 100 beneficiaries after receiving recommendations from the Daegu City Education and Youth Division and comprehensively reviewing factors such as economic hardship and the need for support.

Selected youths will receive a total of 300,000 won in transportation subsidies per person, distributed three times a year. For this support initiative, transportation cards worth 100,000 won will be provided first to help alleviate the burden of travel necessary for job preparation, studies, and daily life.

The transportation subsidy program for youth preparing for independence is now in its sixth year. The scope of support has been expanded to include not only youths who have aged out of foster care but also those whose care is being extended, providing more comprehensive welfare services.

Meanwhile, the "Together to Daegu" project is a transportation welfare initiative promoted through the cooperation of Daegu City, iM UPay Co., Ltd., and the Daegu Community Chest of Korea. Utilizing prepaid funds from transportation cards that have remained unused for a long time as a source of funding, the project operates various initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable groups and enhancing citizen welfare.

Along with supporting vulnerable groups, the Daegu Happiness Promotion Agency is also carrying out projects to encourage citizens to use public transportation. Notably, it is currently running the "All Ta" event, a program designed to promote public transportation usage as part of its carbon neutrality initiative. This event runs from May to September, and any Daegu citizen aged 14 or older who uses a bus or subway at least twice a month is eligible to apply. It is planned to provide transportation cards worth 50,000 won to 520 people selected through a monthly lottery.
