시는 이상기후와 야생동물 피해 등으로 육묘에 어려움을 겪은 농업인의 영농 차질을 줄이고 적기 모내기를 지원하기 위해 오는 10일까지 ‘벼 긴급 예비묘’ 공급을 집중 추진한다고 밝혔다.

이번에 공급되는 예비묘는 영천시 공공비축미 매입 품종인 ‘삼광벼’와 ‘해담쌀’로 구성되며, 총 3,000상자 규모로 준비됐다. 해당 물량은 약 10헥타르 규모 논에 이앙이 가능한 수준으로, 육묘 실패로 어려움을 겪는 농가에 실질적인 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.

영천시는 최근 기후변화에 따른 농업 현장의 피해가 잇따르고 있는 점을 고려해 예비묘 공급 체계를 운영하고 있다. 특히 올해 4월과 5월에는 큰 일교차와 야간 저온, 잦은 강우 등의 영향으로 일부 농가에서 모잘록병과 뜸묘 피해가 발생한 것으로 확인됐다.

한편 영천시는 기후변화에 따른 농업 재해에 선제적으로 대응하기 위해 현장 기술지원과 예찰 활동을 확대하는 등 안정적인 쌀 생산 기반 마련에 행정력을 집중하고 있다.
