【브레이크뉴스 의성】이성현 기자=의성군 탄소중립지원센터가 세계 리필의 날(World Refill Day·6월 16일)을 기념해 어린이들에게 자원순환과 탄소중립의 중요성을 알리는 체험형 환경교육을 진행했다.
의성군은 지난 15일 탄소중립지원센터 다목적홀에서 지역 유치원생 60여 명을 대상으로 친환경충전소(리필스테이션) 체험과 자원순환 교육 프로그램을 운영했다고 밝혔다.
이번 프로그램은 미래세대의 환경 인식 제고와 탄소중립 생활문화 확산을 목표로 마련됐다. 어린이들이 환경보호의 의미를 쉽게 이해할 수 있도록 이론교육과 체험활동을 연계한 방식으로 진행됐다.
교육 과정에서는 자원의 가치와 올바른 분리배출 요령, 일회용품 사용 줄이기 등 일상에서 실천할 수 있는 탄소중립 활동을 소개했다. 또한 친환경충전소 체험을 통해 재사용 문화와 순환경제의 개념을 직접 경험하는 시간도 마련됐다.
특히 참가 어린이들은 눈높이에 맞춘 다양한 체험 프로그램에 참여하며 환경보호가 거창한 행동이 아닌 생활 속 작은 실천에서 시작된다는 점을 자연스럽게 배우는 기회를 가졌다.
의성군 탄소중립지원센터는 탄소중립 실현과 자원순환 문화 정착을 위해 다양한 환경교육 사업을 추진하고 있다. 이와 함께 사용이 끝난 우유팩과 폐건전지, 젤 형태 아이스팩 등을 수거해 세탁세제와 섬유유연제, 샴푸, 바디워시, 주방세제 등 친환경 생활용품으로 교환해 주는 자원순환 실천사업도 운영 중이다.
김주수 의성군수는 “세계 리필의 날을 계기로 어린이들이 자원순환의 가치를 이해하고 일상에서 환경보호를 실천하는 계기가 되길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 탄소중립지원센터를 중심으로 다양한 교육·체험 프로그램을 확대해 탄소중립 문화 확산에 적극 나서겠다”고 말했다.
