문경소방서에 따르면 지난 16일 오후 4시 56분께 주흘산을 오르던 A씨(60대·여)가 낙석에 의해 계곡 아래로 추락했다는 신고가 접수됐다.

신고를 받은 소방당국은 즉시 구조대와 장비를 현장에 투입했으며, 원활한 수색과 구조를 위해 충북소방본부와 공조 체계를 구축해 합동 구조작업을 진행했다.

이날 구조 현장에는 문경·충주·괴산 소방 인력 등 총 34명이 동원됐으며, 소방차량과 구조장비 13대, 소방헬기 1대가 투입돼 수색 및 구조 활동을 펼쳤다.

구조대는 사고 발생 약 2시간 만인 오후 7시께 소방헬기 ‘충강2호’를 통해 A씨를 발견하고 인양에 성공했다. 구조 당시 A씨는 의식이 있는 상태였으나 어깨와 골반 통증을 호소한 것으로 알려졌다.

이후 A씨는 오후 7시 16분께 병원으로 이송돼 의료진에게 인계됐으며, 현재 치료를 받고 있다.

민병관 문경소방서장은 “여름철에는 집중호우와 지반 약화 등의 영향으로 산악지역 낙석 위험이 커질 수 있다”며 “등산객들은 주변 환경을 수시로 확인하는 등 안전수칙을 철저히 준수해 달라”고 당부했다. 이어 “소방당국도 산악사고 발생 시 신속한 대응을 통해 시민 안전 확보에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
