【브레이크뉴스 경산】이성현 기자=대구대학교가 중소벤처기업부의 중소기업 인력양성사업에 선정되며 인공지능(AI) 분야 고급 연구인력 양성에 나선다.
대구대학교는 중소벤처기업부가 추진하는 ‘2026년도 중소기업 인력양성대학’ 사업에 선정돼 인공지능 특화 분야 중소기업 계약학과 운영을 맡게 됐다고 18일 밝혔다.
중소기업 인력양성대학 사업은 재직 근로자들이 학위 과정을 통해 전문성을 높일 수 있도록 지원하는 프로그램이다. 산업 현장의 수요를 반영한 교육과정을 제공해 중소기업 재직자의 역량 강화와 장기 근속을 유도하는 데 목적이 있다.
이번 선정에 따라 대구대는 대학원에 ‘인공지능시스템학과’ 박사과정을 새롭게 개설한다. 중소벤처기업부 지원 계약학과 가운데 대구·경북지역 최초의 AI 분야 박사과정으로, 직장과 학업을 병행해야 하는 재직자들에게 새로운 교육 기회를 제공할 것으로 기대된다.
신설 학과는 내년 3월까지 신입생 10명을 선발할 예정이며, 교육과정은 총 6학기에 걸쳐 운영된다. 수업은 주말 중심으로 진행돼 재직자들이 업무와 학업을 병행할 수 있도록 설계됐다.
특히 인공지능과 스마트 자동화 시스템 분야의 전문 교육과 함께 대학의 연구 역량을 활용한 산학협력 프로젝트를 추진하는 등 현장 적용성을 높인 실무 중심 교육이 이뤄질 예정이다.
사업 추진을 주도한 류정탁 대구대 전기전자공학부 교수는 “AI 기술 발전과 스마트팩토리 시장 확대에 따라 전문 인력 수요가 지속적으로 증가하고 있다”며 “제조업과 인공지능 기술을 융합해 산업 혁신을 이끌 수 있는 고급 인재 양성에 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.
한편 대구대는 현재 메카트로닉스공학과와 IT융합학과 학사과정, 스마트융합시스템공학과 등을 계약학과로 운영하고 있다. 이번 AI 박사과정 신설을 계기로 학사부터 석사, 박사과정까지 연계되는 교육 체계를 구축하며 기업 맞춤형 인재 양성 기반을 한층 강화하게 됐다.

He added, "We will strive to cultivate high-level talent capable of leading industrial innovation by integrating manufacturing with AI technology."
Meanwhile, Daegu University currently operates the undergraduate programs in Mechatronics Engineering and IT Convergence, as well as the Department of Smart Convergence Systems Engineering, as contract departments. With the establishment of this new AI doctoral program, the university has built an integrated educational system spanning from bachelor's to master's and doctoral levels, further strengthening its foundation for cultivating talent tailored to corporate needs.
