영덕군에 따르면 조 당선인은 7월 1일 오전 10시 영덕군민체육센터에서 제52대 영덕군수 취임식을 개최하고 새로운 군정 비전과 운영 방향을 군민들에게 제시할 예정이다.
이날 행사에는 지역 기관·사회단체 관계자와 주민 등 1천여 명이 참석할 것으로 예상된다. 행사에서는 오케스트라 축하공연을 시작으로 취임 선서와 취임사, 박형수 국회의원 축사, 이철우 경북도지사 영상 축사, 이재명 대통령 축하 메시지 소개, 군정 비전 선포, 군민의 노래 제창 등이 진행된다.
조 당선인은 취임식에 앞서 오전 8시 30분 충혼탑을 찾아 참배하며 공식 일정을 시작한다. 이어 간부 공무원들과의 간담회, 취임식 참석, 사무 인수서 서명, 언론인 간담회, 주요 기관 방문 등의 일정을 잇따라 소화할 계획이다.
앞서 민선 9기 영덕군수직 인수위원회는 지난 11일부터 본격적인 인수 활동을 시작했다. 인수위는 각 분야 전문가를 중심으로 인수위원 15명과 자문위원 6명 등 총 21명 규모로 구성됐으며, 군정 주요 현안과 핵심 사업 전반에 대한 점검을 진행해 왔다.

무엇보다 최근 영덕군에 총사업비 12조 원 규모의 1.4GW급 대형 원전 2기 건설이 확정되면서 지역 발전 전략에도 관심이 쏠리고 있다. 조 당선인은 신규 원전 건설 사업을 지역의 새로운 도약 기회로 활용해 장기적인 성장동력을 확보하는 데 주력할 것으로 전망된다.
조 당선인은 지방선거 기간에도 신규 원전 유치 필요성을 적극적으로 알리며 관련 활동을 이어왔다. 당시 원전 유치를 통해 인구 감소와 지방소멸 위기에 대응하고, 새로운 산업 생태계를 조성해 영덕을 국가 에너지산업의 핵심 거점으로 육성하겠다는 청사진을 제시한 바 있다.
