포항상의는 경상북도포항교육지원청의 후원과 미래경제교육연구소의 주관 아래 관내 중학생들을 대상으로 진행한 ‘2026 찾아가는 청소년 경제교육’ 일정을 모두 마무리했다고 9일 밝혔다. 이번 교육은 지난 4월 28일부터 이날까지 총 3차례에 걸쳐 운영됐다.

‘AI·디지털 기술 변화 속 미래의 경제와 직업’이라는 주제로 열린 이번 순회 교육은 인공지능과 디지털 혁신이 가져온 산업계의 변화를 짚어보고, 앞으로 주목받을 유망 직종을 탐색하는 데 초점을 맞췄다. 청소년들이 급변하는 경제 트렌드를 이해하고 스스로 미래를 설계할 수 있도록 경제적 안목을 길러주기 위해 강사진이 직접 학교 현장을 방문했다.

세부 일정별로는 지난 4월 28일과 29일 양일간 포항여자중학교 1학년생 240여 명을 대상으로 1차 교육이 포문을 열었다. 이어 4월 30일에는 양학중학교 1학년생 130여 명을 찾아갔으며, 마지막 3차 교육은 7월 9일 대흥중학교 1학년생 130여 명을 대상으로 실시됐다. 참여 학생들은 기초 경제 원리와 기업가 정신을 흥미롭게 배우는 시간을 가졌다.

교육 과정은 단순 이론 전달에서 벗어나 학생들이 주도적으로 참여할 수 있는 다채로운 체험형 콘텐츠로 채워졌다. 미래의 가상 기업을 설립해 투자를 유치해보는 시뮬레이션, ESG(환경·사회·지배구조) 경영을 접목한 창의적 비즈니스 모델 설계, 경제 상식을 겨루는 골든벨 퀴즈, 미래 유망 직무 탐방 등이 진행돼 큰 호응을 얻었다.

김구암 포항상의 사무국장은 “지난 2008년부터 지역 청소년들의 올바른 경제관 정립과 도전정신 고취를 위해 경제교육 사업을 꾸준히 이어오고 있다”고 설명하며, “앞으로도 교육 현장과 긴밀히 소통하며 AI·디지털 시대를 이끌어갈 창의적 인재를 키워낼 수 있도록 실효성 있는 맞춤형 교육 프로그램을 지속해서 지원하겠다”고 말했다.

김성태 대흥중학교 교장은 “이번 방문 교육이 아이들이 경제 현상과 기업의 역할을 올바르게 인식하고, 우리 지역 경제와 미래 사회 변화에 눈을 뜨는 유익한 계기가 되었을 것”이라며 “앞으로도 학생들이 진로를 진지하게 고민하고 창의성과 협동심, 기업가 정신을 함께 기를 수 있는 체험 기회가 다각적으로 마련되기를 기대한다”고 전했다.
