한국수력원자력은 10일 서울 한화빌딩에서 한화오션과 '영광 칠해 해상풍력 발전사업'의 공동 추진을 위한 주요조건 합의서를 체결했다고 밝혔다.

영광 칠해 해상풍력 발전사업은 전남 영광군 해역에 총 1,020메가와트(MW) 규모의 발전단지를 조성하는 프로젝트다. 오는 2029년 9월 착공해 2032년 10월 상업운전을 시작하는 것을 목표로 추진된다.

이번 합의에 따라 양사는 각자의 전문성을 바탕으로 사업개발과 인허가 절차를 비롯해 사업 전반에서 협력을 강화한다. 이를 통해 국내 해상풍력 산업 경쟁력을 높이고 안정적인 재생에너지 공급 기반을 확대한다는 계획이다.

특히 한화오션은 해상구조물 제작과 해양 엔지니어링 기술을 활용해 사업 수행을 맡고, 한국수력원자력은 재생에너지 개발과 운영 경험을 바탕으로 사업 추진을 지원할 예정이다.

양사는 이번 협력이 국내 풍력산업 공급망 확대와 관련 산업 활성화는 물론 일자리 창출에도 긍정적인 효과를 가져올 것으로 기대하고 있다.

김형일 한국수력원자력 재생수력사업본부장은 "이번 합의는 국내 해상풍력 산업 생태계 조성과 탄소중립 실현을 위한 의미 있는 출발점"이라며 "양사의 역량을 결집해 정부의 해상풍력 확대 정책과 재생에너지 보급 목표 달성에 기여할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 말했다.

한편 한국수력원자력과 한화오션은 앞으로 사업 추진 과정에서 세부 협력 방안을 구체화하고 성공적인 사업 수행을 위한 협력을 지속적으로 확대해 나갈 계획이다.

The Yeonggwang Chilhae Offshore Wind Power Project is a project to construct a power complex with a total capacity of 1,020 megawatts (MW) in the waters off Yeonggwang-gun, South Jeolla Province. The project aims to begin construction in September 2029 and commence commercial operation in October 2032.

Under this agreement, the two companies will strengthen cooperation across the entire project, including business development and licensing procedures, based on their respective expertise.
