경주시는 13일 시장실에서 만남지원사업을 통해 인연을 맺은 김진수(36) 씨와 이해진(30) 씨에게 200만 원 상당의 경주페이를 결혼축하금으로 지급했다고 밝혔다.
예비부부는 모두 지역에서 근무하는 청년으로, 지난해 6월 진행된 만남지원사업에서 처음 만나 교제를 이어왔으며 오는 9월 결혼식을 앞두고 있다. 경주시 만남지원사업을 통해 성혼한 첫 사례다.
김진수 씨는 "평소 새로운 사람을 만날 기회가 많지 않았는데 사업을 통해 좋은 인연을 만나 결혼을 준비하게 됐다"며 "축하금까지 지원받게 돼 감사하고 행복한 가정을 만들어가겠다"고 말했다.
이해진 씨는 "프로그램이 자연스럽게 인연을 맺을 수 있는 계기가 됐다"며 "더 많은 청년들이 좋은 만남을 통해 새로운 출발을 할 수 있기를 바란다"고 전했다.
경주시는 올해부터 만남지원사업을 통해 결혼한 커플에게 1쌍당 200만 원 상당의 경주페이를 지원하고 있다. 지원 대상은 2025년 이후 실시된 만남지원사업 참여자 가운데 혼인신고를 마쳤으며, 부부 모두 주민등록상 주소를 경주시에 둔 경우다.
청년들의 자연스러운 만남을 돕기 위해 운영 중인 만남지원사업은 지난해 120명이 참여해 27쌍의 커플이 성사됐으며, 이번 예비부부를 포함해 현재까지 모두 3쌍이 결혼한 것으로 집계됐다. 올해 상반기에 진행된 1차 사업에는 40명이 참가해 10쌍이 커플로 이어졌다.
지난해 운영된 '청춘동아리, 두근두근 설렘의 시작 프로젝트'에서는 향수 만들기와 쿠킹, 도자기 체험, 1박 2일 매칭캠프 등 다양한 교류 프로그램을 진행해 16쌍의 커플이 탄생했다. 시는 이러한 성과를 바탕으로 올해부터 성혼 커플을 대상으로 결혼축하금 지원 제도를 시행하고 있다.
경주시는 오는 9월 2차 만남지원사업인 '청춘소모임' 프로그램을 운영할 예정이며, 2027년에는 포항·울산과 연계한 해오름권 만남지원사업으로 확대할 계획이다.

The Meeting Support Project, operated to facilitate natural encounters among young people, saw 120 participants last year, resulting in the formation of 27 couples.
