【브레이크뉴스 경북】진예솔 기자=경북교육청이 농산어촌에 방치된 미활용 폐교를 지역공동체 공간이나 소득 창출 시설로 되살리기 위한 ‘2026 폐교 활용 공모사업’을 추진한다.

경북교육청에 따르면, 이번 공모는 안동·구미·문경·의성·고령·성주·봉화·울진 등 8개 시군에 위치한 폐교 14곳을 대상으로 진행된다. 신청 자격은 해당 폐교 통학구역에 실거주하는 주민이 50% 이상 참여하는 지역주민단체나 지방자치단체다. 선정된 단체에는 폐교 부지와 건물이 무상으로 대부된다.

활용 분야로는 평생교육, 문화·복지·체육 등 주민이 함께 이용할 수 있는 시설과 스마트팜, 특용작물 재배, 농촌체험시설 등 소득 증대 사업이 포함됐다.

신청은 13일부터 8월 14일까지 가능하며, 경북교육청 재무과에 직접 방문하거나 우편으로 접수하면 된다. 경북교육청은 서류 심사와 현장 확인, 공유재산심의회 심의를 거쳐 최종 사업자를 선정할 예정이다.

임종식 경북교육감은 “폐교가 지역 사회의 활력소가 될 수 있도록 다양한 활용 방안을 적극 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.
