계명대는 스포츠마케팅학과 학생들로 구성된 창업팀 'JKJ'가 지난 8일 전북 익산 원광대학교에서 열린 '2026 도전! 메가시티리그전' 왕중왕전 예비 라이콘 어워즈 부문에서 대상을 수상해 상금 1천만 원을 받았다고 밝혔다.

이번 대회는 한국경제인협회 국제경영원이 주최하고 교육부와 한국연구재단, 스카우트협의회, RISE 사업단이 공동 주관한 전국 단위 학생 창업경진대회다. 참가팀들은 지역 산업과 연계한 창업 아이템을 경쟁하며 사업화 가능성을 평가받았다.

대회는 지난 5월 온라인 창업 교육과 팀별 멘토링을 시작으로 6월 통합 본선을 거쳐 상위 20개 팀을 선발했으며, 왕중왕전에서 최종 순위를 결정했다.

JKJ팀은 생성형 AI를 활용해 특허출원 명세서와 창업사업계획서를 작성하는 교육 과정을 바탕으로 창업 아이템을 구체화했다. 이 과정에서 특허출원사실증명원을 확보하고 정부 지원사업 신청을 위한 사업계획서도 완성했다.

대상을 받은 '스퀘어폼(SQUARE FORM)'은 장시간 누워 생활하는 환자의 욕창 발생을 줄이기 위해 개발한 간병 보조기구다. 실생활에서 활용도가 높은 창업 아이템이라는 점에서 좋은 평가를 받은 것으로 전해졌다.

팀 대표인 장석현 학생은 가족을 장기간 간병했던 경험과 요양원 봉사활동을 통해 현장의 어려움을 확인한 뒤 제품 개발에 착수했다고 설명했다. 그는 "올해 안에 제품을 정식 출시하는 것이 목표"라며 "현재 특허 출원을 마쳤고, 요양병원 3곳에서 제품 검증도 진행했다"고 말했다.

지도교수인 하제현 교수는 "생성형 AI를 활용한 창업 교육이 실제 특허 출원과 사업계획 수립으로 이어졌다는 점에서 의미가 있다"며 "학생들이 현장에서 발견한 문제를 스스로 해결하는 실전형 창업 교육 사례가 될 것으로 기대한다"고 말했다.

계명대는 이번 성과를 바탕으로 지역 산업과 연계한 창업 아이템 발굴과 실무 중심 창업 교육을 지속 확대해 나갈 계획이다.

Keimyung University announced that the startup team "JKJ," composed of students from the Department of Sports Marketing, won the Grand Prize in the Preliminary Lycon Awards category of the "2026 Challenge! Mega City League" King of Kings Tournament, held on the 8th at Wonkwang University in Iksan, Jeonbuk, receiving a prize of 10 million won.

This competition is a nationwide student startup contest hosted by the International Management Institute of the Korea Economic Association and co-organized by the Ministry of Education, the National Research Foundation of Korea, the National Scout Council, and the RISE Project Group. Participating teams competed with startup items linked to local industries and were evaluated on their potential for commercialization.

The competition began with online startup education and team mentoring in May, followed by an integrated final round in June to select the top 20 teams, and the final rankings were determined at the King of Kings Tournament.

The JKJ team refined their startup item based on an educational course that utilized generative AI to draft patent application specifications and business plans. During this process, they secured a Certificate of Patent Application and completed a business plan for applying for government support programs.

The grand prize winner, 'SQUARE FORM,' is a caregiving aid developed to reduce bedsores in patients who spend long periods lying down. It is reported that the product received favorable evaluations for being a startup item with high utility in real life.

Team leader Jang Seok-hyeon explained that he embarked on product development after confirming the difficulties on the ground through his experience of caring for a family member for a long time and volunteering at a nursing home. "Our goal is to officially launch the product within this year," he said. "We have currently completed the patent application and have also conducted product verification at three nursing hospitals."

Professor Ha Je-hyeon, the team's advisor, stated, "It is significant that startup education utilizing generative AI led to actual patent applications and the establishment of business plans." He added, "I expect this to serve as a case study of practical startup education where students independently solve problems they discover in the field." Based on this achievement, Keimyung University plans to continuously expand the discovery of startup items linked to local industries and practical, hands-on entrepreneurship education.
