의학 기술이 눈부시게 발전했음에도 불구하고, 혈액은 여전히 인공적으로 제조할 수 없으며 전체 성분을 대체할 수 있는 물질도 존재하지 않는다. 즉, 누군가의 생명을 살릴 수 있는 유일한 수단은 오직 타인의 건강한 혈액을 나누는 ‘헌혈’뿐이다.

게다가 헌혈한 혈액은 장기간 보관이 불가능(농축 적혈구 35일, 혈소판 5일)하기 때문에, 적정 혈액 보유량을 유지하기 위해서는 일회성 참여가 아닌 지속적이고 꾸준한 헌혈이 필수적이다.

24일 진행되는 대구시청 단체헌혈은 동인청사(09:30~12:00)와 산격청사(09:30~17:00)에 배치되는 헌혈버스에서 진행된다. 공무원뿐만 아니라 청사를 방문하는 시민들도 현장에서 자유롭게 동참할 수 있으며, 단체헌혈 참여자에게는 감사의 의미를 담은 추가 기념품 이벤트도 마련된다.

As of midnight on July 15, the current blood reserves in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions amount to approximately 6.8 days’ worth, a level barely sufficient to last for one week. Although a stable blood reserve is typically maintained at a five-day supply or more, the number of blood donors tends to drop sharply once the peak summer vacation season and sweltering heat begin, making the proactive securing of blood a pressing issue.

The group blood donation at Daegu City Hall, taking place on the 24th, will be conducted via blood donation buses stationed at the Dongin Building (09:30–12:00) and the Sanggyeok Building (09:30–17:00).
