남구보건소에 따르면 이번 인지강화교실은 지난 5월 12일부터 7월 16일까지 운영됐으며, 제2기와 제3기에 각각 10명씩 총 20명이 참여했다. 2기는 매주 화요일, 3기는 매주 목요일에 각각 10회차로 수업이 진행됐다.

이번 프로그램은 계명문화대학교 산학협력단과 협력해 문화체육관광부 사업인 '마음치유 봄처럼'과 연계, 문화예술 치유 프로그램으로 마련됐다. 참여자들은 도자기 만들기 활동을 통해 집중력과 손의 소근육 능력을 키우는 것은 물론, 창작의 성취감을 경험하며 정서적 안정과 자신감도 얻었다.

특히 마지막 수업에서는 직접 만든 도자기 작품을 전시하며 서로의 결과물을 공유하는 시간을 가졌다. 참가자들은 “내가 만든 작품이 전시돼 너무 기뻤다”, “다음에도 꼭 참여하고 싶다”고 소감을 밝혔다고 남구보건소 관계자는 전했다.

참가자들이 정성껏 빚은 도자기는 오는 9월 21일부터 23일까지 남구청 1층 민원실 전시장에 전시될 예정이다.

이명자 남구보건소장은 “인지강화교실은 문화예술 활동을 통해 인지기능 유지와 정서적 안정에 도움을 주는 치매예방 프로그램”이라며 “참여자들이 손수 만든 작품에 많은 관심을 가져주시길 바란다”고 말했다.

The Dementia Relief Center at the Nam-gu Public Health Center in Daegu has successfully concluded the 2nd and 3rd Cognitive Enhancement Classes, which were conducted for individuals with cognitive decline and mild cognitive impairment.
