울진군은 24일 오후 7시 왕피천공원 안전체험관 앞에서 물결광장 개장식과 기념음악회를 개최한다고 밝혔다. 물결광장 시설은 이날 오후 4시부터 일반에 개방되며, 개장식을 시작으로 다양한 공연과 체험 프로그램이 이어질 예정이다.

물결광장은 왕피천의 흐름을 모티브로 조성된 수경 공간으로, 낮에는 물놀이와 휴식을 즐길 수 있고 밤에는 조명과 수경시설이 어우러진 야간 경관을 감상할 수 있도록 꾸며졌다.

광장에는 수심 30㎝ 규모의 워터플레이 시설이 마련됐으며, 바비큐와 비어마켓 등 먹거리 공간도 함께 운영된다. 방문객들은 물놀이와 공연, 먹거리를 함께 즐길 수 있다.

기념음악회에는 '싱어게인2' 출연 가수 윤성을 비롯해 싱어송라이터 방준엽, 소프라노 박나리가 출연해 여름밤 분위기를 더할 예정이다.

울진군은 물결광장 개장을 계기로 왕피천공원 리뉴얼 사업을 순차적으로 추진해 휴식과 문화 기능을 강화하고, 체류형 관광 기반을 확대한다는 계획이다.

황이주 울진군수는 "공원은 군민의 일상 속 휴식 공간인 동시에 지역을 찾는 관광객에게도 중요한 관광자원이 될 수 있다"며 "사계절 찾고 싶은 대표 공원으로 자리매김할 수 있도록 지속적으로 시설과 콘텐츠를 확충해 나가겠다"고 말했다.
