Keimyung University has ranked 5th among private universities nationwide and 1st among universities outside the capital region in the recently released sales performance of student startups.
According to Keimyung University on the 22nd, an analysis of data from the University Information Disclosure System (Daehak Alimi) regarding the "2026 Status of Student Startups and Startup Support" revealed that sales revenue for student startups in the 2025 academic year totaled 1.05453 billion won. This placed the university 5th among private universities nationwide and marked the highest record among universities outside the capital region.
During the same period, there were 46 student entrepreneurs, and the capital of student startups amounted to 866 million won. Keimyung University is highlighting the fact that the university achieved tangible results leading to actual sales, rather than merely increasing the number of startups.
Background to these achievements lies the full-cycle support system of the Startup Support Group, which extends from startup education to commercialization and incubation. Keimyung University operates various programs for undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty, including startup courses, clubs, competitions, and camps. In addition, we are helping students' ideas lead to actual startups by linking prototype production, expert mentoring, and startup incubation programs.
The graduate school has also established a system to cultivate professional entrepreneurial talent through the Master's program in Entrepreneurship at the Graduate School of Global Entrepreneurship and the Ph.D. program in Entrepreneurship at the General Graduate School.
Regional-linked entrepreneurship education is also being strengthened. As the lead university for the Daegu City Downtown Campus, Keimyung University’s Entrepreneurship Support Center operates a joint liberal arts course called "Entrepreneurship," in which nine local universities participate. A new entrepreneurship education model combining inter-university credit exchange and off-campus education is also being pursued.
Startup incubation functions are also being reinforced. The "Youth Startup Rookie Lab," operated in cooperation with Nam-gu, Daegu, provides diverse support to companies in the digital culture tech sector based on AI, AR, VR, and XR, ranging from startup space and mentoring to prototype production and investment linkages. In fact, the AI-based content company "Hi-Fiction Studio" also moved into the Keimyung University Startup Incubation Center through this program and is expanding its business.
In addition to this, we are operating youth centers and startup support organizations in partnership with various local governments, including Chilgok-gun and Daegu’s Nam-gu, Jung-gu, and Dalseo-gu. We are also carrying out various government and private startup programs, such as the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ Pre-Startup Package and the private operation of the Daegu Youth Startup Academy.
Keimyung University President Shin Il-hee stated, “This achievement is the result of systematically supporting the startups of all university members, including students, graduate students, and faculty. Moving forward, we will continue to strive to cultivate entrepreneurial talent to lead regional strategic industries and ensure that educational and research achievements lead to startups and commercialization.” <저작권자 ⓒ 브레이크뉴스 대구경북 무단전재 및 재배포 금지>
