지역수요맞춤지원사업은 생활편의와 문화·복지시설 확충 등을 통해 지역 활력을 높이고 정주여건을 개선하기 위한 국토교통부 공모사업이다. 올해는 전국에서 접수된 48개 사업 가운데 15개 사업이 최종 선정됐다.

청송군은 이번 공모 선정으로 '일상이 흐르고 사람이 머무는 신촌약수마을' 조성 사업을 추진한다. 총사업비는 35억 원으로 국비 24억5000만 원과 지방비 10억5000만 원이 투입된다.

사업 대상지는 진보면 신촌리 신촌약수탕 일원이다. 군은 지역의 대표 관광자원인 약수와 꽃돌, 야송미술관 등을 연계해 체류형 관광 기반을 구축하는 한편, 주민들이 이용하는 보행환경과 생활공간도 함께 정비할 계획이다.

약수마루에는 지역의 역사와 관광자원을 소개하는 체험·전시 공간인 '신촌 소담원'을 비롯해 지역 특산품과 기념품 판매시설이 들어선다. 또한 가족 단위 방문객을 위한 놀이공간 '약수 노리터'와 휴식 공간인 '꽃샘 정원'을 마련해 관광객의 체류시간을 늘릴 수 있는 기반을 구축할 예정이다.

꽃샘테마가로에는 보행 유도 스텐실 포장과 스마트 안전시설을 설치해 보행 안전성을 높이고, 유휴공간을 활용한 주민·관광객 교류공간 '신촌 어울샘'도 조성한다. 군은 이를 통해 생활 편의 향상과 지역 공동체 활성화를 함께 도모한다는 계획이다.
