칠곡경찰서는 지난 22일 왜관읍 아곡리와 삼청리 일대를 비롯한 농산물 재배지역에 태양광 이동식 CCTV 8대를 설치했다고 밝혔다.

이번 CCTV 설치는 포도 재배 농가와 지역 주민들의 의견을 수렴한 뒤 왜관농협과 함께 현장 점검 및 설치 타당성 조사를 거쳐 추진됐다.

이동식 CCTV는 범죄 발생 우려가 높은 시기에 필요한 장소로 이동해 운영할 수 있는 장점이 있어, 고정식 CCTV가 설치되지 않은 지역의 방범 사각지대를 보완하는 데 활용된다. 특히 농산물 출하기 절도 예방 효과를 높일 수 있을 것으로 경찰은 기대하고 있다.

칠곡경찰서는 왜관농협과 협력해 이동식 CCTV 설치 구간 주변 도로에 농산물 절도 예방을 알리는 현수막도 함께 게시했다. 이를 통해 범죄 예방 분위기를 조성하고 농업인들의 경각심을 높이는 데 힘을 보탰다.

경찰은 앞으로도 포도 출하기를 중심으로 농산물 보관 장소와 주요 진출입로 등에 대한 순찰을 강화하는 등 예방 중심의 치안활동을 이어갈 계획이다.

칠곡경찰서 관계자는 "농민들이 한 해 동안 정성껏 재배한 농산물을 안전하게 지킬 수 있도록 수확철 범죄 예방 활동을 지속적으로 추진하겠다"며 "지역사회와 협력을 통해 농산물 절도 예방에 최선을 다하겠다"고 말했다.
