이 후보는 “노무현 전 대통령이 꿈꿨던 ‘상식이 통하는 사람 사는 세상’을 대구에서 실현하겠다”며 “당원이 명실상부한 주인이 되는 민주당을 만들겠다”고 밝혔다.

34년 동안 서울보증에서 소기업 및 소상공인 대상 민생금융 업무를 맡았던 이 후보는 민주연구원 이사와 조직강화특별위원회 위원으로 활동하면서 중앙당과 지역 현안을 연계해온 경험을 내세웠다. 특히 대통령선거 당내 경선에서 대구 총괄을 맡아 지역 조직 관리 경험을 강조했다.

이 후보는 기자들과 만난 자리에서 “지난 지방선거에서 김부겸 후보를 지지한 시민 모두가 민주당의 확고한 지지층은 아니라고 생각한다”며 “경쟁력 있는 인재를 발굴하고 시민들께 살아 움직이는 민주당의 모습을 보여 부동층의 지지를 이끌어내겠다”고 밝혔다.

특히 이 후보는 ‘민생 현장출장 시당위원장실’을 상시 운영해 현장 목소리를 시당의 정책과 중앙당 입법과제에 반영하겠다고 밝혔다. 또 당무 운영 과정을 정기적으로 공개해 투명한 운영 시스템을 구축하겠다고 약속했다. 더불어 당원 간 갈등 조정을 위한 특별조정위원회 설치, 당원 교육 확대, 지역위원회 지원 강화 등을 통해 조직 혁신에도 힘쓰겠다고 덧붙였다.

이 후보는 “민주당을 지키는 데 그치지 않고, 시민들로부터 선택받는 유능한 정당으로 거듭나야 한다”며 “다가오는 총선에서 의미 있는 승리를 통해 대구 정치 지형 변화의 계기를 마련하겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편 더불어민주당 대구시당위원장 선출은 오는 8월 9일 엑스코에서 실시될 예정이다.
