이번 방문에서 울릉군은 도서지역 주민들의 정주 여건 개선과 생활 안정에 초점을 맞춘 사업들을 중점 건의했다. 주요 건의 사항은 도서민 여객선 운임비 지원과 도서지역 생활필수품 해상운송비 지원 사업에 대한 국비 반영, 공립 우산수목원 조성 사업 지원 등이다.
아울러 울릉군은 특별자치군 지정의 필요성을 강조하며 국회에 계류 중인 '먼섬 지원 특별법'의 조속한 제정도 요청했다. 군은 섬 지역이 안고 있는 교통과 물류, 재정 여건 등의 구조적 한계를 극복하기 위해서는 제도적 지원이 반드시 필요하다는 점을 설명하고, 정부와 국회의 협력을 당부했다.
