【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=더불어민주당 대구시당위원장 선거에 권재호 전 민주당 북구을 당원협의회 운영위원장이 공식 출마를 선언했다. 권 후보는 “대구의 성장과 발전을 이끄는 집권 여당 시당을 만들겠다”며 포부를 밝혔다.

대구 중구 출신인 권 후보는 영남대학교 재학 시절 민주화 운동에 참여했던 이력을 언급했다. 그는 “1979년 영남대 KSCF 회장으로서 민주주의 장례식 시위를 주도하다 조사와 무기정학 처분을 받았다”며 “1980년 신군부에 저항한 학생운동 과정에서도 많은 고초를 겪었고, 이후 5·18 민주유공자로 인정받았다”고 밝혔다.

권 후보는 노무현 정부 시절 민주당 대구 북구을 당원협의회 운영위원장을 맡았던 점, 제9회 전국동시지방선거에서 김부겸 대구시장 후보 선거대책위원회 대외협력특보로 활동한 경력도 소개했다. 그는 “대구에서 민주당의 기반을 넓히기 위해 힘써왔다”고 말했다.

당원과 지역위원회 간 소통 강화도 중요 과제로 꼽았다. 그는 “각 지역위원장들이 국회의원 후보로 자연스럽게 성장할 수 있도록, 시당이 중심에서 협력을 이끌어가겠다”며 “당원들과 활발하게 연대하고 후배 정치인도 적극 육성하는 대구시당을 만들겠다. 대구 발전에 실질적으로 기여하는 집권 여당 시당위원장이 되겠다”고 강조했다.

In his candidacy, Candidate Kwon put forward the recovery of Daegu’s economy as his top priority.
