경산시는 지난달 31일 시청 대회의실에서 경산미래혁신위원회 전체 회의를 열고, 정부가 추진 중인 ‘대한민국 대도약 3대 메가프로젝트’ 정책 방향에 맞춰 미래산업 육성 전략을 집중 논의했다고 밝혔다.

이날 회의에는 미래혁신위원회 위원과 로봇 관련 기업, 연구기관 관계자 등 40여 명이 참석해, 정부 정책 동향을 공유하고 지역의 역량을 최대한 활용한 신규 국비사업 발굴 방안을 놓고 머리를 맞댔다. 논의의 중심에는 반도체와 피지컬 AI, AI 데이터센터와 같은 신산업 분야가 있었다.

특히 경산이 그동안 쌓아온 자동차부품 제조업 기반에 로봇 기술과 인공지능을 융합해 제조혁신을 구현할 수 있는 방법을 두고, 산업계와 연구계 의견도 폭넓게 들었다.

이날 참석자들은 기술개발과 기업 지원에 그치지 않고, 미래 산업을 이끌 인재 양성, 투자 유치, 양질의 일자리 창출까지 균형 있게 추진하는 것이 중요하다는 데 뜻을 모았다. 로봇 기업 관계자들 역시 현장의 애로사항을 공유하며, 제조업과 로봇 기술을 유기적으로 이어주는 산업 생태계 구축의 필요성을 강조했다.

이재훈 경산미래혁신위원장은 “피지컬 AI와 로봇 산업이 지역의 새로운 성장동력으로 자리 잡으려면, 기술개발과 기업 지원은 물론 인재 양성·투자·일자리 창출도 함께 이뤄져야 한다”고 밝혔다.

조현일 경산시장은 “경산은 자동차부품 제조업 기반에 더해, 대학과 연구기관, 로봇 기업들까지 아우를 수 있는 잠재력을 갖추고 있다”며 “미래산업 경쟁력 강화를 위한 새로운 국비사업 발굴에 박차를 가하겠다”고 말했다.

한편 경산시는 지난 24일 열린 확대간부회의에서도 미래산업 육성 비전을 공유하고, 국비사업 발굴과 대응체계 마련에 속도를 내고 있다.

Gyeongsan Mayor Cho Hyun-il remarked, "Gyeongsan possesses the potential to encompass universities, research institutions, and robot companies in addition to its foundation in automotive parts manufacturing," adding, "We will accelerate efforts to identify new state-funded projects to strengthen the competitiveness of future industries."
