청송군은 대한배드민턴협회가 주관하는 '2026년 청소년대표 전지훈련'이 지난 7월 31일부터 청송국민체육센터와 청송여자고등학교 체육관에서 진행되고 있다고 밝혔다.

훈련은 두 차례로 나눠 실시된다. 1차 훈련은 7월 31일부터 8월 14일까지 14박 15일 일정으로 진행되며, 2차 훈련은 11월 4일부터 12일까지 8박 9일간 이어질 예정이다.

이번 전지훈련에는 지도자 7명과 남녀 청소년 대표선수 64명, 트레이너 2명 등 모두 73명이 참가해 기량 향상에 집중한다.

특히 1·2차 훈련 성과를 토대로 향후 국제대회에 출전할 청소년 국가대표 선수단이 최종 선발될 예정이어서 이번 훈련의 중요성이 더욱 커지고 있다. 청송군은 이를 계기로 국가대표급 선수 육성을 위한 전문 훈련지로서의 위상을 높일 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다.

대한배드민턴협회는 선수 훈련뿐 아니라 학부모를 위한 프로그램도 함께 운영했다. 1차 훈련이 시작된 지난 7월 31일에는 '차세대 국가대표 선수 부모를 위한 감정 코칭 및 지도자 간담회'를 열어 선수 육성과 소통 방안 등을 공유하는 시간을 마련했다.

청송군은 장기간 선수단이 지역에 머물며 훈련하는 만큼 숙박과 음식점 등 지역 상권 활성화에도 도움이 될 것으로 보고 있다. 아울러 지역 내 배드민턴 저변 확대와 유소년 선수 육성 기반 조성에도 긍정적인 효과를 기대하고 있다.

윤경희 청송군수는 "국가대표를 꿈꾸는 청소년 선수들이 청송에서 집중 훈련을 이어가는 것은 지역 스포츠 발전은 물론 지역경제에도 의미 있는 성과가 될 것"이라며 "앞으로도 국가대표 선수들이 최상의 환경에서 훈련할 수 있도록 스포츠 인프라를 지속적으로 확충하고 전지훈련 유치에도 적극 나서겠다"고 말했다.
