남구보건소는 13일, 이천동 99계단과 고미술거리, 앞산별자리이야기터널, 봉덕신시장, 봉덕동 공영도시텃밭을 지난 3일 ‘자율 금연권장구역’으로 정했다고 밝혔다.

자율 금연권장구역은 법적으로 흡연을 금지하거나 과태료가 부과되는 곳은 아니지만, 주민과 이용객이 자발적으로 금연에 동참할 수 있도록 조성된 구역이다. 법정 금연구역과는 달리, 스스로의 실천과 배려가 중심이 되는 점이 특징이다.

이번에 지정된 장소들은 산책, 운동, 장보기, 여가처럼 일상생활과 밀접한 공간들로, 평소 이용이 많은 곳 위주로 선정됐다.

이천동 99계단은 주민과 관광객이 자주 걷는 대표 산책길이며, 고미술거리는 상업과 문화가 어우러진 보행 중심 거리다. 앞산별자리이야기터널은 가족 단위 방문객이 많이 찾는 체험 공간이고, 봉덕신시장은 붐비는 전통시장으로 주민들의 생활 공간이기도 하다. 봉덕동 공영도시텃밭은 공동체 활동과 야외 체험이 활발히 이뤄지는 곳으로 꼽히고 있다.

남구보건소는 하반기부터 지정 구역에서 현장 캠페인, 이동 금연클리닉, 마을 교육 등 다양한 사업을 진행할 계획이다. 각 장소에 금연 안내판과 배너를 설치하고, 금연 홍보물도 배포한다. 또한, 주민을 대상으로 한 금연상담과 참여형 캠페인도 함께 추진된다.

이 밖에도 상인회, 마을공동체, 도시텃밭 운영자들을 대상으로 금연 교육과 의견을 듣는 자리를 마련하고, 주민 참여 프로그램도 개발할 방침이다.

이명자 남구보건소장은 “자율 금연구역은 주민의 자발적 참여와 배려로 만들어가는 건강한 생활환경”이라며 “앞으로도 지속적으로 금연문화를 넓히고 쾌적한 지역사회 조성을 위해 힘쓰겠다”고 밝혔다.
