울릉군은 12일 군청 제2회의실에서 남한권 군수와 건설·도시계획·해양수산·환경 분야 부서장 등이 참석한 가운데 ‘울릉군 환경계획 수립 용역 최종보고회’를 개최했다고 13일 밝혔다.
환경계획은 '환경정책기본법'에 따라 수립하는 법정계획으로, 환경오염과 훼손을 예방하고 지역의 지속가능한 발전을 위한 중장기 환경정책의 기본 방향을 제시한다.
이날 보고회에서는 그동안의 용역 추진 경과를 공유하고 울릉군의 지역적 특성을 반영한 분야별 환경정책과 사업 계획이 제시됐다.
주요 내용은 자연·생태, 토양·지하수, 연안환경, 대기환경 등의 관리 방향을 비롯해 분야별 주요 사업과 재원 조달 방안 등이다.
특히 생태다양성 보전 모니터링과 생태관광 활성화, 바다숲 복원, 청정 교통수단 전환 확대, 폐기물 처리 기반 확충, 마을형 태양광 설치 등이 주요 추진 과제로 제시됐다.
울릉군은 이번 환경계획을 바탕으로 개발과 보전의 균형을 맞추면서 섬 지역의 환경 특성에 맞는 지속가능한 정책을 추진한다는 방침이다.
남한권 울릉군수는 “이번 연구용역은 울릉군의 고유한 지역 여건과 특성을 반영한 환경 관리체계를 구축하는 핵심 기반이 될 것”이라며 “도시개발과 환경보전이 조화를 이루는 정책을 지속적으로 발굴해 울릉군을 세계적인 친환경 관광섬으로 발전시켜 나가겠다”고 말했다.
