대구어린이세상(대구행복진흥원 수탁운영)은 ‘일상 속 물 아껴쓰기’ 절수 운동을 전개한다고 밝혔다.
대구어린이세상에 따르면 지난 7월 시설을 찾은 방문객은 1만2천547명으로, 지난해 같은 달보다 2천809명 증가했다. 이용객이 늘어난 만큼 시설 차원의 선제적인 물 관리가 필요하다는 판단에 따라 절수 운동을 마련했다.
대구어린이세상은 우선 시설 주요 동선에 절수 안내문과 홍보물을 게시하고, 세면대에는 절수 스티커를 부착해 이용객들이 생활 속에서 물 절약을 실천할 수 있도록 안내한다.
야외 수도의 불필요한 사용과 물장난을 자제하도록 안내하는 한편, 임직원들도 양치컵 사용, 청소 용수의 적정 사용, 시설 내 누수 점검 등을 실천 과제로 정해 운영한다.
어린이 이용시설이라는 특성을 살린 체험형 교육도 연계한다. 단순한 안내에 그치지 않고 어린이들이 물 절약의 필요성을 자연스럽게 이해하고 일상에서 실천할 수 있도록 관련 메시지를 체험과 교육에 접목할 계획이다.
대구어린이세상은 이번 운동을 통해 시설 내 물 사용량을 줄이는 동시에 이용객들의 절수 인식을 높이고, 어린이들이 지속 가능한 물 절약 습관을 형성하는 계기를 마련한다는 방침이다.
김수희 대구어린이세상 관장은 “많은 시민이 찾는 대표 시설인 만큼, 일상 속 작은 실천이 지역 전체의 절수 문화로 이어지도록 공공·교육적 역할에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
