Pohang City Launches Full-Scale 'ALL GOOD Integrated Care' Connecting Medical, Nursing, and Welfare Services
Pohang City has set out to establish a community-centered integrated care system that links medical, nursing, and welfare services in response to the super-aged society and the increasing demand for local care.
Pohang City announced that on the 24th, it signed a business agreement between the Visiting Medical Center and local medical organizations to expand outreach medical services, and held an appointment ceremony for members of the first Integrated Support Council and its first meeting at City Hall.
This event was organized to strengthen the local cooperation system in accordance with the 'Act on Integrated Support for Community Care, Including Medical and Nursing Care,' which came into effect last March, so that citizens with mobility difficulties or those requiring care can receive medical, nursing, and care services in their familiar living spaces.
Participating in the business agreement were Pohang City and Pohang Medical Center, as well as the Pohang Medical Association, Pohang Dental Association, and Pohang Korean Medicine Association. Each institution agreed to cooperate in revitalizing the visiting medical system by identifying citizens in need of home medical care and connecting them with appropriate services, while also expanding the participation of local medical professionals.
They also plan to implement measures to reduce inconvenience for citizens with limited access to medical institutions and prevent unnecessary hospitalizations or institutional admissions by providing visiting medical services, sharing information between institutions, and offering administrative support.
The newly launched first Integrated Support Council consists of 20 members, including experts in health, medical care, nursing, and welfare, as well as officials from relevant institutions. The council will operate as a public-private partnership responsible for establishing and evaluating integrated care implementation plans, deliberating and advising on policy directions, and discussing cooperation strategies between institutions.
At the first meeting, the implementation plan for 'Pohang ALL GOOD Integrated Care' for 2026 was shared, and the current status of major projects and future tasks were discussed. Pohang City is implementing projects that consider the living conditions of citizens in need of care, including the operation of a visiting medical center, support for discharged patients returning to the community, safe hospital escort services, provision of nutritious lunch boxes, gap care, and improvements to residential environments.
Moving forward, the city plans to organically connect medical, nursing, and welfare resources dispersed throughout the region and actively seek out citizens in care blind spots to provide services tailored to their individual health conditions and care needs.
Pohang Mayor Park Yong-seon stated, "This agreement and the launch of the Integrated Support Council are not merely about expanding individual care services; they serve as a starting point for connecting the local medical community and welfare sites into a single support system." He added, "We will join forces to build a Pohang-style integrated care model so that citizens in need of care are not marginalized and can continue to lead healthy and stable lives in the community where they have lived."
