【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=경상북도가 대구광역시와 함께 지역의 새로운 미래 성장동력으로 청년층을 적극 내세우며 청년 정주 여건 개선 및 유관 정책 성과를 대외에 공유했다.
경북도는 대구광역시청 산격청사에서 개최된 ‘대구경북 청년포럼’에 참석해 광역 경제권 구축과 지역 미래 산업 발전 과정에서의 청년 역할을 집중적으로 제시했다고 밝혔다.
서울신문과 삼성물산이 주최하고 행정안전부, 경상북도, 대구광역시가 공동 후원한 이번 포럼은 대구·경북 행정통합 흐름과 연계한 광역 성장 전략을 모색하고, 지역에 정착할 청년 세대와 함께 거점 도시 청사진을 논의하기 위해 기획됐다.
현재 경북도는 청년센터를 거점으로 현장 청년들과의 접점을 확대해 나가고 있다. 지역 대학과 협력한 일자리·창업 지원 프로그램을 비롯해 ‘천원주택’ 등 정주 비용 부담을 낮추는 실질적인 주거 지원책을 지속 발굴·운영 중이다.
이날 행사에서는 영천 (사)나다움놀이터 정유진 대표와 경주 (사)성림조형원 심재담 대표 등 지역 청년 대표 4명이 단상에 올라 지역이 나아가야 할 비전과 정착 경험에 대해 발표하며 공감대를 형성했다.
이어진 기조강연에서 마강래 중앙대 교수는 “청년의 내일이 시작되는 곳, 대구·경북 청년 청사진”을 주제로 강연을 펼쳤다. 이후 최승 한국가스공사 인사부장의 지역 상생 방안, 이희재 씨위드 대표의 청년 창업 사례, 최환희 청년경제금융교육연구소장의 재테크 교육 등 분야별 주제발표와 자유 종합토론이 차례로 개최됐다.
참석자들은 청년층의 수도권 유출 현상을 완화하고 지역 내 정착을 유도할 수 있는 실효성 있는 정책 대안을 놓고 종합 토론을 이어갔다.
양금희 경상북도 경제부지사는 “대구와 경북이 미래 첨단산업 거점으로 도약하기 위해서는 청년들이 지역에서 꿈을 펼치고 안정적으로 정착할 수 있는 환경 조성이 필수적”이라며 “현장에서 수집된 청년들의 생생한 목소리를 실제 도정 정책에 적극 반영해 나가겠다”고 전했다.

North Gyeongsang Province, together with Daegu Metropolitan City, actively promoted the youth demographic as a new engine for the region's future growth, sharing with the public the achievements of policies related to improving settlement conditions for young people.
North Gyeongsang Province announced that it attended the ‘Daegu-Gyeongbuk Youth Forum,’ held at the Sanggyeok Building of Daegu Metropolitan City Hall, and focused on presenting the role of youth in the establishment of a metropolitan economic zone and the development of future regional industries.
Hosted by the Seoul Shinmun and Samsung C&T, and co-sponsored by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, North Gyeongsang Province, and Daegu Metropolitan City, this forum was planned to explore metropolitan growth strategies linked to the administrative integration of Daegu and North Gyeongsang, and to discuss a blueprint for a hub city with the generation of young people settling in the region.
Currently, North Gyeongsang Province is expanding its points of contact with local youth, using youth centers as hubs. We are continuously developing and operating practical housing support measures to reduce the burden of settlement costs, such as "1,000-won Housing," as well as job and startup support programs in cooperation with local universities.
At the event, four youth representatives from the region, including Jeong Yu-jin, Representative of Nadaum Playground (a non-profit organization) in Yeongcheon, and Sim Jae-dam, Representative of Seonglim Sculpture Institute (a non-profit organization) in Gyeongju, took the stage to share their visions for the region's future and their experiences of settling down, fostering a sense of shared understanding.
In the subsequent keynote speech, Professor Ma Kang-rae of Chung-Ang University delivered a lecture titled "Where Youth's Tomorrow Begins: A Blueprint for Daegu and Gyeongbuk Youth." Following this, presentations on various topics—including regional co-prosperity strategies by Choi Seung, Head of Human Resources at Korea Gas Corporation; youth startup case studies by Lee Hee-jae, CEO of Seaweed; and personal finance education by Choi Hwan-hee, Director of the Youth Economic and Financial Education Research Institute—were held in succession, followed by a comprehensive open discussion.
Attendees engaged in a comprehensive discussion regarding effective policy alternatives to mitigate the outflow of young people to the Seoul metropolitan area and encourage their settlement within the region.
Yang Geum-hee, Vice Governor for Economic Affairs of Gyeongsangbuk-do, stated, “For Daegu and Gyeongbuk to leap forward as hubs for future high-tech industries, it is essential to create an environment where young people can realize their dreams and settle stably in the region,” adding, “We will actively reflect the vivid voices of young people collected from the field into actual provincial policies.”
