포항시는 오는 9월 2일 포항실내체육관에서 '제46회 장애인의 날 기념식 및 취업·생산품 박람회'를 개최한다고 밝혔다.

이번 행사는 장애인에 대한 지역사회의 이해를 넓히고 장애인의 권익 증진과 사회참여 기회를 확대하기 위해 마련됐다. 당초 장애인의 날인 4월 20일에 맞춰 행사를 열 예정이었으나, 주관 단체인 포항시장애인단체연합회의 사정으로 일정이 조정돼 9월에 진행하게 됐다.

행사장에서는 장애인 구직자를 위한 취업 상담과 고용지원제도 안내가 이뤄진다. 포스코휴먼스를 비롯해 한국장애인고용공단 경북지사, 대구장애인근로자지원센터 등 관련 기관이 참여해 일자리 정보와 근로 지원 방안 등을 안내할 예정이다.

장애인 직업재활시설에서 생산한 제품을 소개하는 홍보 부스도 운영된다. 포항나누우리터와 포항바이오파크, 카리타스보호작업장, 포항장애인재활작업장 등이 참여해 생산품을 전시하고 시음 행사 등을 진행한다.

지역 장애인단체와 복지시설 역시 행사에 참여해 기관별 복지사업과 지원 서비스를 소개한다. 행사장을 찾는 시민들은 다양한 복지 정보를 확인하고 장애인 생산품을 직접 체험할 수 있다.

포항시는 이번 행사를 통해 일자리 지원과 장애인 생산품 홍보·판로 확대, 복지서비스 안내를 연계해 장애인의 자립 기반을 넓히고 지역사회 내 공감대를 확산한다는 방침이다.

포항시 관계자는 "장애인과 가족들이 함께 소통하고 정보를 나누는 자리가 될 수 있도록 행사를 준비하고 있다"며 "앞으로도 장애인이 지역사회에서 역량을 발휘하고 자립할 수 있도록 일자리와 복지 지원을 지속적으로 강화하겠다"고 말했다.

Promotional booths introducing products produced by vocational rehabilitation facilities for the disabled will also be operated. Pohang Nanuriter, Pohang Biopark, Caritas Sheltered Workshop, and Pohang Rehabilitation Workshop for the Disabled will participate to display their products and conduct tasting events.

Local disability organizations and welfare facilities will also participate in the event to introduce their respective welfare programs and support services. Citizens visiting the venue can check various welfare information and experience products made by the disabled firsthand.

Through this event, Pohang City plans to expand the foundation for the independence of the disabled and spread empathy within the local community by linking job support with the promotion and expansion of sales channels for products made by the disabled and guidance on welfare services.

A Pohang City official stated, "We are preparing this event to serve as a venue where people with disabilities and their families can communicate and share information together," adding, "We will continue to strengthen job and welfare support so that people with disabilities can demonstrate their capabilities and achieve independence within the local community."
