강 의원은 지난 30일 구미시을 당원협의회 소속 시·도의원과 당원, 당직자 등 55명으로 구성된 봉사단과 함께 거제 회원프라자를 방문해 수해복구 활동을 진행했다고 밝혔다.

봉사단은 침수 피해가 발생한 회원프라자 지하 3층부터 지하 1층까지 내려가 현장에 쌓인 토사와 폐기물을 제거하는 작업에 참여했다. 무더운 날씨 속에서도 복구 작업을 이어가며 피해 현장의 조속한 정상화를 지원했다.

현장에는 서일준 국회의원을 비롯해 윤현아·김영규·신수정 거제시의원도 함께해 피해 상황을 확인하고 봉사단의 복구 활동에 동참했다.

강 의원은 현장을 둘러본 뒤 집중호우 피해 규모가 예상보다 크다는 점을 강조했다. 그는 “현장을 직접 확인해 보니 피해가 생각했던 것보다 훨씬 심각했다”며 “피해 주민들이 처리해야 할 일이 많아 어려움이 클 것으로 보인다”고 말했다.

이어 “더운 날씨에도 복구 현장에서 애쓰고 있는 자원봉사자와 소방대원, 공무원들에게 감사드린다”며 “거제가 특별재난지역으로 선포된 만큼 국회 행정안전위원회 간사로서 피해 복구에 필요한 지원이 제대로 이뤄지는지 세심하게 살피겠다”고 밝혔다.

강 의원은 앞으로도 수해 피해 주민들이 일상을 회복할 수 있도록 정부와 관계기관의 지원 상황을 지속적으로 점검하고 필요한 후속 지원에도 나설 계획이다.

Rep. Kang Myung-gu of the People Power Party (Gumi-si Eul, Secretary of the National Assembly Administration and Security Committee) visited Geoje, South Gyeongsang Province, which was damaged by torrential rains, to lend a hand to recovery efforts.

Representative Kang plans to continue monitoring the support provided by the government and relevant agencies to help flood victims return to their daily lives, and will also step forward to provide necessary follow-up support.
