【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=대구시의회 경제환경위원회가 가을 행락철을 앞두고 시민들의 이용이 많은 도시공원의 안전관리 실태를 현장에서 점검했다.
대구시의회 경제환경위원회는 지난 9일 제328회 정례회 일정으로 도시공원관리사무소 앞산공원관리소를 방문해 공원 관리 현황과 주요 현안을 살펴보고, 앞산공원 일원의 시설물과 안전관리 실태를 확인했다고 밝혔다.
이번 방문은 지난 8월 대구시 조직개편에 따라 도시공원관리사무소가 기후에너지환경국 산하로 편입되면서 경제환경위원회 소관 업무에 포함된 데 따른 것이다. 위원들은 현장 업무를 직접 확인하고 도시공원 관리체계와 향후 과제를 파악하는 데 중점을 뒀다.
도시공원관리사무소는 앞산공원을 비롯해 두류공원, 달성공원, 달성습지 등 4개 관리소를 운영하며 공원 내 각종 시설물의 설치와 유지·관리, 탐방객 지원 등을 맡고 있다.
위원들은 먼저 도시공원관리사무소로부터 주요 업무와 현안에 대한 설명을 들은 뒤 앞산공원으로 이동해 안전시설을 직접 살폈다.
특히 큰골 사방댐과 저류지 주변에서는 추락이나 익수사고를 막기 위해 보수·보강한 안전난간의 관리 상태를 확인했다. 지난해 큰골폭포 상단에서 발생한 무단출입 및 낙상사고와 관련해 설치된 출입제한 시설도 함께 점검하며 이용객 안전 확보 여부를 살폈다.
경제환경위원회는 가을철을 맞아 앞산공원을 찾는 시민과 관광객이 늘어날 것으로 예상되는 만큼 시설물에 대한 지속적인 점검과 선제적인 안전조치가 필요하다고 강조했다.
박종필 경제환경위원장은 “도시공원은 시민들이 도심에서 자연을 접하고 휴식을 취할 수 있는 소중한 공간”이라며 “쾌적한 공원 환경을 유지하는 것과 함께 이용객의 안전을 확보하는 일이 무엇보다 중요하다”고 말했다.
이어 “가을 행락철에는 공원을 찾는 시민이 더욱 늘어나는 만큼 사소해 보이는 위험요소도 사고로 이어질 수 있다”며 “시설물을 상시 점검하고 필요한 조치를 신속하게 시행해 시민들이 안심하고 이용할 수 있는 안전한 공원으로 관리해 달라”고 당부했다.

They also inspected access restriction facilities installed following an unauthorized entry and fall accident at the top of Keungol Falls last year, assessing whether visitor safety was being adequately ensured.
The Economy and Environment Committee emphasized the need for continuous facility inspections and proactive safety measures, noting that the number of citizens and tourists visiting Apsan Park is expected to rise during the autumn season. Park Jong-pil, Chairman of the Economy and Environment Committee, stated, “Urban parks are precious spaces where citizens can experience nature and relax within the city center,” adding, “Ensuring visitor safety is paramount, alongside maintaining a pleasant park environment.”
He continued, “As the number of park visitors increases during the autumn leisure season, even seemingly minor hazards can lead to accidents,” and urged, “Please manage the parks to ensure they are safe spaces where citizens can visit with peace of mind by conducting regular facility inspections and promptly implementing necessary measures.”
