국민의힘 김형동(안동·예천)·이종배·성일종 의원은 10일 국회에서 기자회견을 열고 광주 군공항 전력의 3개 지역 임시 배치 계획을 즉각 중단할 것을 촉구했다.

의원들은 이미 해당 지역 주민들이 수십 년간 군공항 소음과 재산권 제약을 감내해 온 만큼 또다시 희생을 요구하는 것은 부당하다고 주장했다. 특히 주민들과 사전 협의 없이 이전을 추진하는 것은 사실상 국가가 일방적으로 희생을 강요하는 것이라며 “국가 폭력”이라고 비판했다.

그러면서 정부가 호남 반도체 클러스터 조성에 따른 혜택은 특정 지역에 집중시키면서 그 과정에서 발생하는 부담은 다른 지역 주민들에게 떠넘기고 있다며, ‘버려도 되는 2등 국민인가’라며 이재명 정부를 강하게 비판했다.

이들은 호남 반도체 클러스터 조성 자체를 반대하는 것은 아니라면서도 국가 안보를 위해 이미 희생해 온 지역에 추가적인 부담을 지워서는 안 된다고 강조했다. 또 전국의 군공항 가운데 야당 의원들의 지역구가 임시 이전 대상에 포함된 점도 납득하기 어렵다고 주장했다.

예천군의회도 이날 광주 군공항 전력의 예천 배치에 반대하는 결의문을 채택했다. 군의회는 주민 생활환경과 안전에 중대한 영향을 미칠 수 있는 사업을 충분한 소통이나 공감대 없이 추진해서는 안 된다며 군민의 생존권과 재산권 보호를 위해 적극 대응하겠다고 밝혔다.

정부는 광주 군공항 부지를 호남 반도체 클러스터에 활용하기 위해 광주에 주둔 중인 공군 제1전투비행단의 기능을 예천·서산·중원기지 등에 분산 배치하는 방안을 추진하고 있다. 예천에는 유천면과 개포면 일대 89만7천212㎡ 규모의 추가 활주로를 건설해 2031년 말까지 사업을 완료하는 방안이 검토되고 있다.

To utilize the Gwangju military airfield site for the Honam semiconductor cluster, the government is pursuing a plan to redistribute the operations of the Air Force’s 1st Fighter Wing—currently stationed in Gwangju—to bases in Yecheon, Seosan, and Chungwon. For the Yecheon location, a plan is under review to construct an additional runway covering 897,212 square meters across the Yucheon-myeon and Gaepo-myeon areas, with the project slated for completion by the end of 2031.
