Gyeongbuk Province Hosts Festival for Women and Youth Connecting Work, Life, and Rest

Gyeongsangbuk-do Province organized an event to share the diverse experiences of women and youth contemplating work-life balance and to explore ways to revitalize the local female economy.

The province announced that it held the "2026 Work-Life-Rest Festival: Connecting to Tomorrow" on the 10th at the Donghaeng-gwan (Companion Hall) of the Gyeongbuk Women & Family Plaza, in collaboration with the Gyeongbuk Women's Policy Development Institute.

Organized to mark Gender Equality Week, the event was designed to prevent career interruptions among women and raise social awareness regarding work-life balance. The program featured a talk concert on preventing career interruptions, an awards ceremony for a video contest, and hands-on activities hosted by women-led startups and female farmers.

The event began with a lecture titled "Finding a Job (My Job) That Excites Me Every Day," where participants learned how to align their aptitudes and experiences with their careers.

This was followed by a talk concert titled "Work, Life, and Rest from the Perspective of Youth," featuring five panelists, including a young nurse-YouTuber and a young farmer. The panelists shared stories about work-life balance while discussing the challenges and growth they experienced in their respective fields, such as startups, agriculture, arts and culture, and youth policy.

Programs to support women's economic activities and entrepreneurship were also included. An experiential pop-up store, featuring direct participation from women-led startups and female farmers, showcased a variety of products and interactive activities; visitors could purchase goods and engage in hands-on experiences while learning about the activities of local women-led businesses.

An awards ceremony was also held for the video contest, which selected six outstanding entries that highlighted best practices for preventing career interruptions. Ha Geum-sook, President of the Gyeongbuk Women’s Policy Development Institute, stated, “Work-life balance is a crucial foundation not only for individual happiness but also for building a sustainable society.” She added, “I hope this event serves as an opportunity to share the diverse challenges and experiences of young people and helps women and residents harmonize work, life, and rest.”

Lee Sang-su, Director of the Local Government Strategy Bureau of Gyeongbuk Province, remarked, “Supporting women in achieving a balance between work and family so they can lead happy lives is also significant in addressing the low birth rate issue.” He pledged, “We will continue to develop policies that promote work-life balance and a culture of gender equality.”
