Jeong Da-young, a librarian at Yeungjin University Library, received the National Library of Korea Chief Executive’s Award for a video showcasing her practical experience in a university library and her ability to manage community-oriented programs.

Yeungjin University announced on the 14th that Jeong won the Excellence Award—specifically the National Library of Korea Chief Executive’s Award—at the "2026 Stories of Libraries and Librarians Video Contest" hosted by the National Library of Korea.

Her winning entry, titled "The World’s Best Librarian: The Journey Toward the Path of a Librarian," drew attention by candidly portraying her diverse field experiences as a university librarian, as well as the processes involved in planning and operating library programs.

In the video, Jeong highlighted activities connecting the library to the local community—such as digital literacy programs designed not only for university members but also for local residents—thereby emphasizing the library's role as a bridge to the community.

Supported by funding from the Daegu Buk-gu Office and the university’s Lifelong Education Center, the Yeungjin University Library operates digital literacy programs for local residents, serving as a hub for lifelong learning that connects the university with the community.

This award is considered significant as it externally recognizes the professionalism of librarians and the evolving role of university libraries—moving beyond traditional library duties to actively engage with the community through the planning and operation of information education and lifelong learning programs.

"This award was made possible not only by my own efforts but also by the experience gained in the field and the collaborative brainstorming on various programs with my library colleagues," Jeong said. "In particular, the sense of fulfillment and the insights gained while running digital literacy programs for local residents provided great inspiration for the video's concept."

She added, "I look forward to continuing to build a library where both the university community and local residents can grow together."
